the only reason I buy signiture models is because gibson refuses to sell lps without pick guards. sure i can remove it. but that leaves 2 holes on my guitar

The most important difference between my Studio and my Standard was definitely quality of electronics. Physically they're also very different spec from each other, but that's more of a flavor thing than a quality thing.
The Standard V&T controls are hand-wired. They are smooth and even throughout the entire sweep of the pot. The Studio's circuit board controls are clunky and are basically off from 1 to 2.5 with an abrupt cut-off; from 3 to 7 they don't really do much; most of the effective V&T control is from 8.5 to 10.
Having these smaller windows of effective control drastically limits your ability to shape tone.

I'm not highbrow enough for it to matter which LP.
My Gibson Studio that I bought at a pawn shop suits me just fine.

I don't care for Gibson or Epiphone signature guitars especially Slash. I would rather have the same guitar for a lower price .it can also be modified to its specifications if choose to for less money

I am ready to buy a les paul! Go a standard 60s as i had an r7 and did not like the big neck....but it still has issues, it holds back a bit...and sounds a bit thin(!) sometimes its got a bright tone which i do like...but i sytill search for a better one, i can afford it but 7500 gives me the creeps! After being totally disappointed on a fender cs strat my faith in custom shop is gone. Epiphones are great for the money but you do hear it in the sound ❤

There is only one LP made today, Heritage LP`s are top of the line quality handmade throw backs that are better sounding and built than any Gibson EVER, FACT! They aren't as expensive as Gibsons, but are pricey, they are the best Gibson`s ever made, FACT!!!

I have a 1994 Studio, had it since new. Its a really really good guitar. Sounds good, looks good, and plays amazing with the perfect neck to me. I paid around $850 for it back in the day, which is a pretty good investment in my book 😊

Really enjoyed this one - thanks for taking the time to put it together! I'm primarily a Les Paul person, my first electric was (still is) a 1968 LP Custom I bought from a friend in the early 70s - it was my only electric thru my band days and stayed with me into my studio days. Recently I bought the Epiphone 1959 'Gibson hybrid' which I like a lot, interesting getting to know a chunkier neck, and also the Cantrell 'Wino' which is great, the neck and ebony fretboard feel very familiar and, frankly, I just love the colour. I tried the Epi Custom and it's great but the 'Wino' won the toss. My next purchase will definitely be an Eastman SB59/v - tried one and love it. There are a couple of Gibsons I would love to own, a 2011 Long Island Ltd. Edition I have been checking out and maybe the new Deluxe with mini humbuckers - need to try it out but the brighter edge the pick-ups give it seems pretty interesting (also they have a Wine red!). Thanks again.

I'm still in love with my 2009 les paul traditional. Zero bells and whistles and no weight relief just a les paul being a les paul only thing I plan on changing soon are tuners because one took a knock and the cover came apart.. Good excuse for locking tuners

You are spot on, I have a friend and he checks out all the guitars you talked about and thats what he says
I also like those pickups you talked about and then added the Antiquity`s aged look to my R9 and thats
the old sound I was looking for, I do highly recommend them.

I have a Les Paul Standard 2017 and I've thought of it as the guitar I've always wanted. Recently I bought a Chibson Les Paul '56 Custom Shop Re-issue replica, just like the one I had back in the 70's. Soap bars, thick neck, 7 pounds and no frills aside from the tiger maple top and what looks like a lemon burst finish. After playing that thing for a week, I picked up my 2017, and shocker. I discovered how much work it needed to play as well as my Chibson. Plus, those humbuckers will never have the spice of the soap bars. They are just alive. I've got a new favorite guitar, and it's not the Gibson.

Why don't people just pick the guitar that best suits their playing and style? People are so caught up in having a Les Paul. No wonder Gibson can charge whatever they want.

Thanks for the review….1950’s Epiphone LP in heritage cherry sunburst for me. It came perfectly setup from Sweetwater. I LOVE the look, sound and feel of this guitar and can’t put it down. I was worried about the size of the neck as I have fairly small hands, but it is so comfortable to play!
