I'm not sure I want my light circuit running through my Pi.

Omg, transformer solution is really bad. Hall effect based sensing is much more safe + it has benefit of providing fault feedback, but yes, much more fiddly. In terms of bouncetime: it just tells how much time should be between edge change events to avoid triggering by switching noise all over the place - it gets more reliable with longer time at expence of latency.

Hi,
Nice video.
You can use output voltage from the transformer to power supply a coil of the relay and in the same time connect that voltage through the NO contact of the same relay that is controlled by the transformer. Even better solution is to use voltage from the Raspberry Pi pin through the NO contact of the relay controlled by the output voltage of the transformer. The problem with the delaying will disappear.

This is exactly the same problem I'm trying to solve in the past week. Really useful video, thanks.

A 1K resistor between the 3,3V and 0 on the transformer output will draw 3mA when on. This will drain the transformers charge as soon as it goes off and shorten the 'false' ON time a lot.

Is their any alternative solution to update the state which you have done with transformer?

This kind of goes without saying, but if you are going to work with electricity, make sure you know what you're doing. You should get a certified professional to do any work in your home.
