Talking Race to World First w/Echo Gingi

Does anyone else have huge audio volume swings between Max and Gingi at least? I gotta crank the volume to hear gingi and turn down when max comes on. I find this in a number of videos where everyone calls in on discord

Switching to 10 man Mythic would probably just kill Mythic raiding, absolutely horrible idea in my opinion. Classes with no raid buff would essentially just never exist, and you would kill off half of every guild in existence, hoping they form another group. Not only that, you are also hoping players enjoy the social environment of a 10 man raid as much as they do 20 man, which is pretty hard to guess at. By switching to 10 man you introduce a bunch of downside, and for upside I guess you are just making Mythic content more accessible, but only for classes with raid buffs. And should Mythic raid content really be accessible? It’s supposed to be very difficult. Seems like by making this change you guarantee a ton of bad things and in exchange you potentially gain a very tiny positive thing.

Great convo. Glad it happened. Hopefully more of these can happen in the future, but it makes sense that it's very dependent on vibes.

Max gets hate because he is basically the sole face of Limit. Echo's image is far more dispersed between their MDI guys, Roger, Scripe (obviously), etc. - they all sort of share the burden of fame. Max sort of touched on this early on, saying that he uses his stream for the race, and that is partly to blame - but he just is front and center when you talk about Limit/Liquid. That, combined with Limit getting 2nd the last few races has probably increased how much hate gets sent his way. Totally undeserved in my opinion, but that's the mob mentality for you.

Very interesting and entertaining hearing the talk between the two of you. It's great seeing the mutual respect between two fierce competitors. Also great editing and just an overall amazing video.

One thing about the "16h head-start". I understand that it sucks for Limit/Liquid to always have to feel like a win from them will be questioned because of that - especially if the two guilds kill the end boss in quick succession. A win is a win, and it's not Liquid's fault that there is no global release. However, it's just intellectually dishonest to deny that the head-start is an advantage and it always bothers me hearing Max - who is a very logical and intelligent person - try to come up with different explanations for why it isn't an advantage.

Also, when Liquid has won it hasn't been because of the 16h head start so far. But a few times when Echo has won, it's been in spite of them being disadvantaged.

They tune the raid correctly and all your wins are discounted straight up. Idc what you say or anyone else, its straight up an advantage for NA at that point. Unless they come out with global release, there is no way you can justify winning with a 12hr advantage on a correctly tuned raid. On the alternative there would be ZERO excuses for losing at that point also.

I have to say people should listen to this and try to implicate that to their own raid no matter the position or skill lvl is. People often and that implies to even i suggest top 50-100 guilds dont admit mistakes or they think other people are the problem. But you need to fix your issues first for yourself. And the point max was saying a good raidleader is problem solving I learned on my skill lvl and ranking that it´s only required to call stuff and problems or mistakes would never be adressed because someone could be mad about it and leave it´s actually insane. And thats why i Miss 10 man raiding because in 20 man you cant overlook anything

This is great stuff. Feel like a lot of this stuff applies to more than just WoW. Just great advice of being a leader or what it takes to be the best at anything really.

My guildees need to learn from the whole "admit to mistakes so we don't have to go searching through logs" that would just be so nice if we could fix that lol. Lots of egos out there though. Hard problem to solve in a lower level guild while keeping raid moral high imo

I'm just AOTC myself and mid-level M+ so I'll never play at this level, and its super interesting learning about the behind-the-scenes work, the minutiae of the race and prog, and the guild dynamics. I think raid tuning is so bad bcs of you and Echo. They dont want to relase something that folds down right away. You up your level of game every tier to match each other. If they did mythic tuning for a guild that would progress it normally it would be nothing for your guilds. You would outgear it bcs of splits and BoE stacking, you would be able to have outside team create crazy WAs and strats and you would just grind some mechanics until you kill it. So overtuning it and then nerfing it later is just better for them to not have pushover raid.

I have the other problem :D I'm very good at problem solving (I have autism so it's like every person with autism has something they excel at completely and they suck at everything else? I am bad with min maxing my class, I won't be able to get a 100% out of my class. I know myself in that regard. it would be incredible if one day I get a shot at raidleader. not even being in the raid, I'd be more than happy if I could just watch a stream and go full force on problem solving with setting up cds and timings. so if anyone ever wants to try it out I'll gladly join you. I have lead 3 guilds to cutting edge so far so I have some exp but it's kinda cheating if half the raid team are the same friends that follow allong.

The vibe on this conversation is so weird. It's almost a frenemies feel. There are parts where you can see on Gingi's face that he doesn't like Max's take and there are times where he drops little digs in there.
