The FUTURE of Custom Zombies...

I want to make the argument that if customs return it will be full customs like BO3

why? well simple, Microsoft, see Sony has a rule of no custom assets on Playstation (Epic gets around this in a very, very, very complicated way that I have no time to explain but to sum it up quickly the custom assets never technically get installed on your console), they infamously dont allow Bethesda games to have mods that add in custom content, despite Microsoft allowing Bethesda (well more accurately themselves since they own Bethesda) to have custom assets on Xbox, if they did this with COD they could push A LOT of people to Xbox and probably more importantly to Microsoft, push them to game pass as we know COD is making its way to game pass sometime this year

someone may say "Didn't Microsoft promise not to make COD worse on Playstaion?" and the answer is they tried, they offered Sony a contract to do just that, Sony denied, if you ask me Microsoft is probably planning on making COD worse on PS just to spite Sony for denying that contract

Cod bo3 is abandoned and will never come back, let alone the pc version which has many security risks from hackers and lots of bugs since its not updated for 6 years, I dont think activision really cares, the community patches are nothing but mod menus to fix the bugs which none of them is actually 100% guarantee safe

I think custom CoD doesn’t make any sense if they continue releasing games every year. Fortnite is dropping Fortnite 2 and Fortnite 3 in the next 2 years, they can afford to throw resources into something like LEGO Fortnite because the game is just one singular constantly improving game. CoD would have to completely change their business model to ever be able to attempt something like that in a way that would actually be close to the quality of a Fortnite project.

Would it maybe work where mod/map makers can sell their work which supports them but activision or whatever gets a percentage so it’s win win - i honestly wouldn’t mind paying for a lot of these maps if they’re that good

So long as Activision holds the leash we will never get the best content for zombies so we will continue to do it ourselves

I don’t expect mod tools to be released again unless something happens to let there be a stand alone zombies game with custom zombies attached. Overall cod has shot itself in the foot with its lack of care for all its communities in general though

treyarch shuld do either free dlc or small charge and if they charge after a group of maps are looked over and authorized by treyarch they are put in a pack for 5 or 8 dollars. So pc has open workshop and has to be ok'd by treyarch for consoles?

COD could adopt a similar strategy: create a substantial game with mod support and continue introducing fresh content every three to four months. 'Halo Infinite' exemplifies this approach quite well; despite its rocky start, its current state demonstrates the potential for success if it had launched in its present form.

I think that if we were to see custom zombies again, considering how crossplay between platforms is now the norm, we'd end up seeing an in-game custom zombies feature, but with either a monthly subscription or a one-time DLC purchase.

IMO we should get a new mod tools every 'generation' of console, so every 7-8 years. Gulf war would be the perfect game for it but i dont think it will ever happen again. Any passion from devs is overshadowed by corporate greed.

I would love this to become a reality because if it is, I will buy a butt load in this new Call of Duty game like not just buying the game itself, but like buying the battle pass every year dying a lot of operator from the shops I mean, I already do all that But I would spend more money and more time getting cool weapon variance so I could play in custom zombies and yes it is a bummer that maybe you won’t be able to port over weapons from other games but at the same time who cares if you have a shop where it has pretty much weapons that look like weapons from another game And also not just that I don’t need the custom weapons. I just want the custom maps. I got a PC along time ago just for black ops three when cut when models came out, I remember the first day of Montels got released on three I said to my father, I need to buy a PC, I talk my father getting me a PC saying that I don’t need any console because of PC can be upgraded and stuff and he said OK I’ll do that and then yeah but yeah this would be a dream some moderate maps if they could put it over from Black history and re-create it on the new engine it will look more beautiful. I guarantee you then blow up three but it will be sad though, because some of those weapons wouldn’t be able to be used like say, if they made Alcatraz like a faithful remastered from live to but doesn’t, it doesn’t let you use the black ops two weapon because the models won’t it’ll be sad, but I would rather take that then have nothing because I’m not really consul gamer but I like grinding the battle pass and don’t give me wrong. I love black ops three I get on it now and then but I have no time because I’m always grinding the next battle pass. I just like grinding battle passes and to see that I can grind a battle pass while I’m playing custom zombies that which is make it where I’ll buy the battle pass every year like guaranteed I don’t care. From Fortnite’s Creative system here. This seems extremely possible and interesting for the future of Zombies! The only things you wouldn’t be able to do anymore is importing weapons and copyright maps.

We’ve had a great couple years of experience with these problems, even with Treyarch themselves striking down some Fortnite maps. However, there is always something else to do!

If bocw zombies had custom zombies that would be amazing.

I feel like bring custom zombies into newer cods would help cod so much because the newer cods are just not worth buying because the maps are straight trash and all the modes basically got thrown to the side so they could make 20 to 30$ skins 🥲 so bringing back custom zombies would help so much because people are extremely creative and they can make the maps instead because cod haven’t been getting any good zombies maps 🥲in awhile

They had like 2 or 3 people working on releasing mod tools for black ops 3, it is not a hard thing for them to release. They just pick an outdated version and patch it.

While a COD Creative would be a cool idea. I think Activision is ultimately too lazy to make that happen. After all, they've been doing the annual release shit for like 20 years now. They tend to abandon their previous title every year once the new game drops. And then they allow them to become overrun with hackers and security exploits that make the old games straight up dangerous to play without modded clients. A Creative Mode just doesn't seem like something they would consider developing if they plan on abandoning the game in a year or two. I'd love to be wrong, but I think we're gonna be stuck on BO3 customs until the end of time.

Here is the truth, if everything is going to cost money to support, we as the community would not mind paying something like $5-10 a year for devs to keep supporting a game and keeping security and servers up. Since bo3 is absolutely hacked. Also since cosmetics make them so much money having a reason for people to keep coming back to old games like new mod tools all those players seeing cosmetics over and over would probably end up with more sales. On the other side of cod made a game that was solely focused on zombies and released maps every few months that focused on telling connected stories it would be a great way to continually get money from fans and also include cosmetics and stuff as well

There will not be another game with custom zombies for a VERY long time. It doesn’t serve activisions model of pushing people into buying the battlepass and microtransactions. They do not care ab an enjoyable experience, case in point is how short their last campaign was. They want you on that multiplayer as much as possible.

Tbh, it wont matter, anyhow. Bo3 is old, yeah, but its accessible, AND GOOD.
If CoD continues to decline, BO3 will just continue to get new purchasees, until they eventually re-evaluate the systems their newer games run on.
Meamwhile, you'll see BO3 continue to get features backported. We have Outbreak on BO3, thats proof enough.
As you said: you know people who see a custom map, and they personally go out of their way to get a PC and buy BO3 so they can play one mod/map.
The staying power BO3 has is, is incredible.
BO3 had/has microtransactions, and we still got mod tools, so mod tools arent out of the question just cuz Treyarch has microtransactions, but yeah, it seems very unlikely.

Thee absolute only way im paying for 2024 or 2025 cod is if they have creative or customs. They will never recieve another dollar from me unless i see customs. For a failing game over the past 3 years if they dont do something drastic, it aint gonna be good as sales have gone down significantly

I hope they keep Radiant. I think that making a 'Call of Duty Creative' and simplifying it will ruin the custom aspect. Black Ops 3 Radiant is perfect for getting into making games and learning how to script. Personally, I think a 'Call of Duty Creative Mode' would suck; we just need an updated version of Black Ops 3 Radiant. A 2024 Call of Duty Gulf War Mod Tools would be perfect.

Cod development tools (radiant) is too complex a program to be added to console. The only way custom zombies would come to console is if it were a VERY watered down map editor like Farcry map editor. And itMost likely will never happen too. What they would do is make chronicles 2 or a standalone zombies game or do every map remastered. But at this rate, it’s looking like merging warzone and zombies is their priority over everything, even though we’re getting 2 round based maps with gulf war, zombies has been changed for the worst (story wise) I don’t think mod tools is in their interest unless the community speaks up and demands mod tools. I doubt they’re gonna come with gulf war though, it’s not that great of a title to feature mod tools. A near future black ops 2 sequel or a new game title is most likely when they’d release new mod tools, when they have that, “this is it, this is the game” feeling, and gulf war surely ain’t it

Not to be a party pooper, with how Activision is operating, neglecting their exploitable games I am not anywhere near encouraged to see mods coming to consoles, if they do then people will sit in that game and not leave, only MP players might leave

Even back in 2016, the idea of mod tools coming back to Call of Duty sounded like a fantasy to think of at the time. The fact that mod tools came out was surreal at the time since the last game to have it was World at War. So no, especially in today’s video game climate we’ll probably never see mod tools for Call of Duty ever again.
