Taiwan was Japanese colony, 1945 returned to the Republic of China. Hong Kong was British colony, 1997 returned to the People’s Republic of China. All of them are in the territory of China.

The democratic island must be strong and ally itself with a maximum of neighbors and democracies, otherwise its delicate island culture will disappear like soon that of Tibet, Xinjiang, Mongolia etc. With Taiwan, it will be much worse than with Hong Kong. Taiwanese voted freely for their freedom and democracy. We must respect the free vote of the people. The free vote of the people is sacred.

Taiwan is the name of the island and the name was given by Qing Dynasty government. Taiwan is never a country. If DDP wants to be dependant, claim it, change your constitution, otherwise officially you are part of China, that’s current status.

Dear Taiwanese i always laugh when i hear you say Taiwan is not a part of China bla bla bla.
It's because of the CCP's generosity and brotherly love that they allow you to relocate to Taiwan despite your defeat in the mainland.

What benefits does Taiwanese have for being an independent country as compared to being part of China as what the whole world see and recognise ? I see that Taiwan being an independent country only have negative effects and is totally against the interest of the Taiwanese people. Reading some comments, it seems that with the censorship of the media and the Internet the West is more aware of what is happening in China than the Chinese. Do the Chinese people know that the Taiwanese voted freely for their freedom and democracy? Recently the typical example was that In northern China people don't know that there are terrible floods in the south of the country and people in the south don't know that there are terrible droughts in the north. People here are so naive to believe that Taiwan should be 'freed from China', when in fact, Taiwan IS THE REAL CHINA. When the Cultural Revolution occurred in Communist China, Taiwan started the Chinese Cultural Renaissance claiming "We are the real Chinese and the representative of Chinese culture." Their Sinocentrism is stronger than the Mainland's and racism runs even deeper. That makes Taiwan the main entity of Chinese history violently invading other countries around them, subjugating them, calling them 'inferior'. They are cleverly lying to the world that they should 'be independent from China' to make themselves look like the victim of abuse from the mainlands, so they can take the underdogma stance. If they ever take back the mainlands, they will show their true color and make PRC look like saints. They've been held down for so long while believing that everything Chinese should belong to them. Tibet, Uyghur and Inner Mongolia will suffer even more if REPUBLIC OF CHINA takes control of the Mainlands. Korea will suffer to since the Chinese think of Korea 'a territory we lost and should regain.' It's better to just let PRC to run things.

I think Taiwan should stay safe as much as possible. Going to war with China just to have a silly flag in the UN is not worth it at all. Taiwan is almost an independent country; they have everything besides the recognition, so please, for the love of your nation, don't rely upon the US to defend you, and don't give China the right the right to ever start a war because I highly doubt that China will start a war as long as Taiwan maintains the status quo.
