It is time to buy a second competition horse now. You have gone so far with Banks and he is epic but you can really do with new experiences to improve yet further. Something that has bags of talent but that won't completely phase you. But yes new horse please and run the pair.

I think it's ok to feel all those things at once. You can love Banksy and think of him as Number 1 and love him as comfort blanket AND you can love riding another horse and love the experience you have with them and the bond you develop with them. Loving another horse doesn't mean you love Banksy less. Love and enjoyment and care aren't limited resources that you have to ration out between horses: you have an infinite capability to love and enjoy them.

Great vlog. Such fun.

I would say go back and see if you have the same excitement on Belle as you did when you were having fun on the tour. Going back solo for a purpose you will have a very different feel for the subject.

As for you feeling that Belle would be too much horse for you I think I might disagree.

You would have so much to teach her for the life you want with her and she has so much to learn from you.

That is where the bond strengthens and no of course it won’t be plain sailing. BUT she offers guts, style, trainability and a wish to please and I’m not sure what more you could ask of a horse.

I think as you proved to yourself without realising it, you have the ability to up your game to match the horse beneath you. That’s a natural skill and rarely teachable.

So again, lose the self doubt. It’s so not required. Go back and sit on Belle and put your mind at rest either way. X

Definitely have a think about it as I remember when Louie was there n you said it was a bit much trying to hack/exercise two horses.
If I was you I would wait til closer to the time Banks retires from riding work then that way you will only need to ride one horse.

Don’t be sorry for waffling. I LOVE it when you waffle!

Oh nooooooooooooo, I'm so sorry to hear you were ill with Covid! But well done and smart decisions on competing; as for new horse... do you have the actual time to work two horses, or the emotional strength? (Sorry to be sounding harsh, that's obv not my intention!!) I don't know how much actual time you have available etc. Thank you for sharing all this with us, and you all (four ladies!) teach me something new every vid <3

Love all the waffling 😂. Great update vlog. As for a new horse!.......I think that you are in a very envious situation in that you have facilities etc to offer a new ride. You will not be taking anything away from Banksy at all, but.....he is getting older and being realistic, he can't go on forever. Belle was a real beauty full of talent. I do wonder if she has eventing potential 🤔. She looked more a SJ . Best wishes what ever you decide.

Looking forward to this!
No one asked me, but I want to share what I've learned about decision making.
When you’re 80 what do you regret more - buying a horse or not?

Risk and Benefit List
A risk and benefit list is better than a pro and cons list.
Write down the best case and the worst case scenarios for different options.

Whole Body Yes
So often the heart, gut, and mind can have different opinions.
Look for a yes signal in your head, heart and gut.
If something feels off even after doing risk benefit analysis, go with your intuition which is a No.
Don't only use intuition by itself to make a decision.

IMO yes, start looking for a young horse but please use your connections like Cam and Alex to find a young horse for yourself. Something that will be the perfect mix of challenging and fun but keep you safe (like Emily and Addy). Belle was lovely but a few moments watching you ride her in the previous videos I was worried for yours and her confidence and safety. Also eventing-wise I think she is a bit too careful and hot for cross-country. I love watching you and Banksy together and after all the confidence you've gained with Banksy it would be terrible to see all of that go away. She would need A LOT of pro rides and lessons together. She will be a super top horse for a pro who will care for her and respect her just as much as you. I'm not trying to be negative but have seen many many people buy a young horse and have their confidence crushed or even get hurt and lose their love for the sport.

Good luck and it would be so awesome to see a horse shopping series!

Tina , she is not too much for you, you were amazing on her, she is meant for you . If she gets you this excited then that’s why, yes banks is your special boy he always will be, but you need more excitement and a competition horse you can grow with. Go back try her again see how you feel, see how she is with you and then make a decision.

It is a sign that you are ready to move on to a slightly more complex horse hunnie, but it doesn’t mean that you don’t love banksy. He will always be your number one!!! He will always be your comfort chair, I have that with the horses i ride. I ride a horse called patch he is my comfortable chair, but if I want a challenge I ride a different horse.

I totally agree with all the other comments that the time has come to buy a second horse!!! Your riding has developed so much and you are so serious about it!!! Belle certainly is a horse with a lot of talent!!! I don't think she will be too much for you as long as you go intoo a partnership with open eyes! She is a sensitive, forward thinking, chestnut mare!!! She will challenge you!!! 😅😅 But you have gotten so much more confident and you've got the time to do it right!!! ❤❤ On the other hand...... there are lots of talented horses out there and looking-to-buy videos are always fun to watch!!! 😅😅 Think Banksy would prefere a girlfriend to a new buddy though.......

Brilliant vlog. It's fantastic watching your enthusiasm. Am so impressed with how forward you ride - you guys flew around the course. Only you will know when you are ready for another horse, but chat with Cam & your other pro friends. You did look great on Belle, she was awesome. I would suggest trying to take a different perspective when thinking of purchasing another horse. Look at it as a new friend for Banks & Dinks and not as competition for your love. You have a big heart Tina & Banks loves company (especially the ladies😍). You could take time developing a new horse as you ease Banks towards retirement, when the time's right. Just my thoughts. Dont underestimate your skills - be guided by your trainers, but you go for it❤

I have a 3yo chestnut IRISH filly here with your name on it 😜🤣
Its never easy to decide if and when the time is right for another horse. I keep trying to breed something that will take over from my now 20yo connemara mare (her daughter us my current broodmare) but just cant stop comparing them all to her. I kept her now 7yo to continue the line, ive her yearling granddaughter and a nice buckskin filly foal (granddaughter aswell) but i keep finding "fault" in them compared to the "old" mare.

Anyway, well done on your 90 win and thank you for another very very very enjoyable vlog! Cant wait for the next one.

Not that I have even close to the relationship you have with Banksy that I have with my boy, but my plan has always been to get a second before he's quite ready to retire so that I can adjust to new ponio while being able to go back to my safety blanket when times get tough and so that I have a good relationship with new pony by the time my boy starts telling me its time to cut back on work. Hopefully I have been able to prolong this with some maintenance as we had some arthritisy lameness that has been tentatively resolved. But those are just my 2 cents. And in the months of "will he ever be sound again" (which is a whole story on its own haha) I felt guilty even window shopping at other horses and riding others as well to continue my education. But its also important to remember there's always more love to give and it doesn't take away from the love you feel for those already in your life. In terms of horse shopping I am a big believer of "if its meant to be it will work out" which at least holds me over from my window shopping adventures haha. As the owner of a chestnut with a stripe I hope you get to ride yours again and that the universe can help you out.

Aww I had the same feelings when it was time for me to move on to another horse. It was one of those situations where I was ready to do more but the horse couldn't be asked for more. It is possible to spread the love though, as many other commenters have said! I find myself with 3 now and all in different life stages. One that is like Banksy, in his teens and top show pony for many years but I need to start preparing the next, and that one I got last year and is 4 and just starting his journey, and one that will be a yearling in August! The 4-year-old was a surprise two for the price of one situation! I couldn't resist. Sometimes you never know where life will take you with the ponios! All I know is it's best to follow your gut. You always know when you've met one that will be a good addition to the fam.

The time you have had so far with Banksy has gotten you to the point of now having the confidence & skills to consider taking on a youngster to bring on. The improvement you have had over the past 12 months, especially at the Global Amateurs Tour, shows you are ready for more challenges. I'm sure Cameron & Alex would give you some honest feedback. Exciting times ahead me thinks ❤
