I would work in downtown from time to time, and always enjoyed the tunnels. There were so many little shops and surprises as you found connections from one place to another. I particularly liked being able to access Thanksgiving Park from the tunnels. It disappoints me to see them so abandoned and ignored. They are one of the unique features of Dallas.
ОтветитьAs a Dallas resident, I had no idea these were a thing.
ОтветитьThe city of Dallas should definitely revitalize the tunnels. In fact, they should implement affordable housing for employees of stores, shops & offices. It would only make perfect sense.
ОтветитьOh I agree, totally should revitalize the network of tunnels and add eateries and coffee shops and even offices for businesses. I've known about them for decades, I've seen an entrance here and there, subway I think was down there. I think I saw an old Quiznos in your video. Anyway, they also have the walkway bridge network between buildings. Saw you were on some of that.
ОтветитьI was born in Dallas and since the weather is so steaming hot, there’s not that many homeless people camping outside in the blazing heat so there’s actually not that much trash out there.
ОтветитьThe worst thing Dallas did was allow Laura Miller to let the Dallas Cowboys move to Arlington, Texas!!!!
ОтветитьNot really tunnels. The real tunnel is/was the RR tunnel from Union Station to the Cotton Exchange.
Ответитьo i remember being there cool!

Laura derailed so many things going for Dallas, pretty much the same for all the Dem politicians that have taken Dallas over
ОтветитьI live in fort worth. But omg just subscribed!!! This is awesome
ОтветитьIf you haven’t already, you would love to visit the tunnels of OKC in Downtown. They are open to public and they are really cool maintained with art, quotes, color sections, etc
ОтветитьI am 61 grew up in N Dallas mom would drag my 8 yr old self down to downtown Neimem Marcus at Xmas Holliday time. Parking underground the elevator had an elevator operator. What floor mame? Late 60s
Ответитьthe area needs a "speakeasy" or 2 down there...... a few jumping clubs would attract the nightlife....
ОтветитьThe city onerous whatever could be charging more affordable rents and small businesses could thrive.
ОтветитьThere are bank vaults, massive boiler rooms, water pools(not for swimming), and many many more passages that go down 5 + floors underground. There used to be a few clubs down there as well. Where the tunnels don't go underground, they go on the 2nd floor of some buildings. There is also an outdoor entrance that you ride an escalator down to. Each section of the tunnels has a unique vibe, like space age or 80s or 70s, etc. You missed more than 3/4 of the tunnels. You barely touched them, just saying, as I used to live downtown in several of the buildings.
ОтветитьI love these tunnels! I have got to go see them!
ОтветитьLaura Miller did what was good for Highland Park. She hurt Dallas in so many ways.
Laura Miller really hurt the small businesses. She shut down many small businesses for no reason.
i would like to have an apartment. *cough i mean office down there
ОтветитьHouston is the same way
ОтветитьDid you ask yourself why the walls and floor are marble?
ОтветитьTheres an underground Railroad station that never came to be.
ОтветитьChicago Pedway is way better
ОтветитьI remember when they were being built. I would go see my mom at the bank and while I was waiting for her to get off work, I would go down there and explore. Very few shops back then
ОтветитьI live in Dallas! Where did you go to find the entrance?
ОтветитьI wanna find these tunnels now
ОтветитьLived in Dallas proper for 5 years before moving on - had NO FREAKING CLUE this even EXISTED. Would have loved to explore them while I was there.
ОтветитьHey y'all the youngsters I heard you say your mom told you about it you see I'm 60+I work a couple of businesses down there you see all the people that work there in in the office buildings all knew about that area that's when it was ladder clothing stores also ant eaters so some people didn't have to leave out just go down to the basement and get them something to eat and go back to work😅 and don't say nothing by Laura Miller she's the reason why the cowboys are playing in Arlington and not downtown Dallas...
ОтветитьOpen them all back up. It was a safe space and connected businesses, the downtown colleges and schools and shopping together. With the additional living spaces, it could really revitalize the area.
ОтветитьThe tunnel had an Eckerds (like Walgreens or CVS) & full-service restaurants. It was nice to meet friends for lunch, run errands.
ОтветитьThe big green building😂
Ответитьi hate dallas
ОтветитьThe snow-covered path was no help in finding his way out of the back-country.
ОтветитьTHEY ARE NOT SECRET
ОтветитьHot tip...if you don't want people glaring at you and warning about skateboarding in restricted areas, stop carrying a skateboard around. I distinctly remember getting kicked out of the underground in the late 80s for just walking around with a deck in my hands.
Ответить💯sus elevators doors walls and turns… no trespassing… definitely more going on
ОтветитьThese tunnels should definitely be brought back to life. I plan on taking my group of friends there and check them out. ☺️☺️☺️
ОтветитьWhen I got hired in Dallas in 1998 a friend showed me the tunnels & I went there daily for lunch. It was like a huge mall under the streets.
ОтветитьGreat Video ! Are there a lot of Security Cameras down in the Tunnels ? Also a great place for a Police Sub Station ! Chicago has a few tunnels also ! tjl
ОтветитьThey need to revamp them, especially with this extreme heat. we be having & adding an underground park as well would be nice for the families living in downtown area might bring heavy traffic back too the area.
ОтветитьMy dad was an ironworker when we moved here in 80 and he according to me "being in total awe" had the keys to the city many deep holes that they would have a crain drop them down in scaffoldings were on every sidewalk i believe especially around the Macy's downtown and thought they might rent an apartment across the trinity over by the hospital where u could see traffic on 30 n 35 right at the canyon and the big ol night light reunion tower and walks between this building and that building underground idk if to avoid the crowded streets or all the construction going on everywhere i remember having that conversation about the holding hands in public there idk if downtown was cooler then or now but they were completely amazing for a 5 year old that is claustrophobic
ОтветитьWould your mom recall the tunnel route she used to take to work? Would be cool if she is part of your next tunnel adventure , her comments will be gold.
ОтветитьStumbled across this video this morning and thought it was awesome, but sad to see the underground has slumped so badly. The biggest problem with getting around in downtown Dallas is the lack of adequate parking. If the parking options were available, I am sure that more pedestrian traffic would be possible. Video was fun and highly informative. Thanks for sharing.
ОтветитьMen downtown dallas is just sad
ОтветитьWe would use those tunnels to cool off when skating downtown as kids... (and yes we skated the curved walls)
ОтветитьI had walk in pieces of those tunels and seems somehow boring.
ОтветитьThis was the beginning of a planship for the Bunkers of the wealthy. There are bunkers planted everywhere, even in Kansas, for the Elites to go when the SHTF. If Bank of America was involved, you could bet, so were the Rothschilds.
