Listening your tape in my Ford in Prague, Czech. Thank you. :)
Ответитьthank you, this is my youth. I can't believe I'll hear it again. I don't have those tapes anymore.😀❤😀
ОтветитьThank you for taking me back to one of my childhood summers in Lakewood. I like to think this was playing in my Dad’s jeep while we were headed down 88 to the beach.
ОтветитьI love the Action Park ad. After watching Class Action Park, it’s very cool to hear a real ad for the place.
ОтветитьPat St. John is still on the radio today. His last show in NYC aired in 2015, but he's on SiriusXM's "60's Gold" channel now, 6 days a week. Awesome guy, I'm glad this is available online to listen to
ОтветитьThe summer of 1986 was the best summer of my life.
Hearing this brings back so much of the magic and memories I hold fondly of that special place in time. I was 15 that year and my family relocated "Down The Jersey Shore" at the onset of that summer. Though I was out of range of WPLJ, there was a lot of troppo during the summers which often brought it in as a local station. Thanks for sharing!
Radio used to be the only way to hear music (outside of a personal music collection), now there's streaming. The youngins today don't really buy hardcopy music anymore. I was always a liner notes nerd, so I always liked hard copy mediums. Alas, I've broke to the convenience of the stream... Bluetooth and all. It's convenient, yes, but feel I don't have the same connections with the music and the artist that I used to.
Ответитьthis was the Year and Month I left NYC to live in Arizona, Where I still Live. I remember Listening to WPLJ In the Moving van and Listened to WPLJ Until The signal faded out.
ОтветитьGta 6 radio
ОтветитьImmediately recognized the first song from Saint Pepsi's "Late Night Delight"
ОтветитьWhat wonderful memories!! We were so full of hope and promise then. We thought the future would be fantastic. Sadly, it wasn’t.
Ответитьcrazy to hear the Action Park commercial and be like oh yeah i saw that documentary that place was nuts! i'm sure a lot of you have actual memories there, glad you survived. at any rate this whole tape is pretty much a perfect mid-80's artifact. play this over a good soundsystem no need for a dj
ОтветитьMore fun, better sense of humor, better tv, better music, better movies, arcades, breakdance, WWF, transformers, better…just better.
ОтветитьThank you, thank you THANK YOU!!! I was 9 back then and this brings back good memories from my childhood.
ОтветитьIs this tape for sale?
ОтветитьGreat full aircheck. My universe equal of this when I was a kid in the 80s was (Indianapolis) WZPL, WFBQ95, WENS
Ответитьi turned 16 on the 8th july 1986
Abração do Brasil, Homero Freitas
ОтветитьWPLJ-----White Plains/Lemon Juice.
ОтветитьWe need more videos like this people! dig out your old tapes :)
ОтветитьI used to tape radio stations at night so I could listen to them on my Walkman in school. they always had a better mix of music and never talked about the news at night, just had fun
ОтветитьI’m imagining this broadcast live on a boombox carried by some kid sitting on the New York subway. Vibrant groups of people of all kinds sitting in the same carriage, quietly enjoying the sounds on their morning commute to work elsewhere in the metropolis
ОтветитьSkön inspelning att lyssna på mitt i natten 😙👌
ОтветитьFYI 1st song is 'Val Young – Seduction' produced by Rick James in 1985. had never heard before but can't get it out of my head now!
ОтветитьLess bass pullback on Pet Shop Boys than I remember from the 'small market' sound of my local FM. I'm sure by this time they were running Texar Prisms or an XT2 with that Optimod 8100!
ОтветитьAmazing thank you
ОтветитьYou know what… I have a blank cassette I’m going to buy a cassette recorder from eBay connect it to my receiver and record my favorite radio station so that 20 years from now I can listen back to it. I am 16 by the way.
ОтветитьGrew up in the 90s and Y2K in the Houston suburbs, as the son of a Newark native with his own fair share of radio memories from H-Town and beyond, and I can say with honesty there was no decade that punches harder when it comes to the intersection of music, culture and optimism than the 80s. And yes, as a 1986 baby this is one hell of a time capsule…”West End Girls” being the cherry on the top!
It’s hard to imagine they don’t make radio or even TV like this these days, and that’s a shame. Today’s teens whether in Houston or New York City would be wise to learn from the greatness Gen X and elder millennials got to witness growing up on the radio…because good things shouldn’t end when your group of Saturday Night Live players walk off the stage!
This is proof that it did sound better on the radio
ОтветитьThe Power Hour !!
ОтветитьBest music ever
ОтветитьThank you for bringing me back to the music of my generation!
ОтветитьChills! What a time to be alive that was! ❤
ОтветитьFirst song is Seduction by Val Young, written and produced by Rick James
ОтветитьThank you for this! Brings back so many great memories. Nothing like the 80’s - best decade ever.
ОтветитьI'm crying now, I'm 41 years old and I wish we can rewind our lives back to this era.
ОтветитьAmazing! But... where is the complete tracklist?
Ответитьwhen radio was not anoying
ОтветитьI love this
ОтветитьAWESOME! This Jersey Boy has been LOVING THIS!
Ответитьthis is my sisters' 4th birthday! I was 16, and a Tuesday so it was the second day of summer school. LOL LOL
