I really enjoy watching your channel. I hope all are doing well. For those on extreme budgets how would you suggest budgeting for huge purchase like a berkey when your finances are very small

You mentioned getting canned goods from LDS. Is there a way to get bulk food from the LDS store without being a member of the church?

Every time I go to my grocery store I usually will get 2 cans of can food just to put away for an emergency. My favorites are canned beans canned chili. Also canned veggies. Specifically corn and green beans. And also get your choice of canned meat. It will take time to build your supply but just stay consistent you can get 4 weeks worth of food easily over time.

I've been prepping for 1 year also. I started to hedge against inflation but now it is all emergencies that are possible to me. Iodide pills? No. That's not my emergency - if there was a radiation event I'll eat apples, apricots and even the peels of citrus fruits. Expensive water filtration equipment? Not yet, but I have water gallons stored plus filters for emergency or bugout. Bugout bag - yes but not to extent with many gadgets shown in prepping videos - so it has absolute necessities for now. Keep a good set of outerwear and footwear with the bag. For weekly food I buy bags of the frozen vegetables for a better price and store the canned goods for later. My cans grew quite a lot in 1 year - I was storing them in pop case flats but it became a problem so I went picked up milk crates which hold a lot and stack. I store a lot of dry beans, rice and pasta in any glass jars and some in medium mylar bags for the buckets. I'm too shy to ask a bakery for free buckets so I buy them at home depot. Make Crisco emergency candles cheap and easy. Even the smallest apartments can start a garden and even those on a low budget can start to gather silver. Don't rush - work on your bills (that's your 'emergency' of the moment) - there will be time for you to gather. Scout out all stores near you and when you start building up your food you can wait for best pricing when you shop for your weekly meals. When you can't buy at the moment, search recipes for the beans etc. and work on organization of your home. There are a lot of good videos including this one - learning to make your own is a valuable skill - takes time and practice.

Moving always hits the preps hard unfortunately. We're building back ours after moving back in December. And for those who are new to prepping, you will most likely never feel like you are completely prepared; the goal posts always move.

Having a buffer pantry can literally help get people out of debt. As soon as the buffer is large enough, then you can refuse to replace used items until they are on sale. Once you are only buying items on sale, then you are now saving money. Now that you are saving, you can move to more bulk purchases. Since you are buying in bulk, you can shift to making more things on your own such as seasoning mixes. Now you are saving even more!
Once you can move into your own food preservation, now you can not only refuse to buy unless it's on sale, you can buy extra and preserve it for later. Let us face the facts, over time, prices don't go down for things normally. We have the term inflation and it's been happening all the time.

When is the last time you heard about price deflation?

Much nicer and easier place this time. The old place looked hard and more work to bother with and with little kids. I want to go south and a less maintenance and lower taxes place. No trees near the place would be nice. Big trees put me in debt to get down. All trees fall .
Butcher shop not too far is straight from farms. Better quality and cheaper. Place is always packed. Even put a wood smoked food restaurant nextdoor. Reasonable and yummy. Gotta have a treat here and there.

I have two kinds of preps. The first kind is ingredients-based, the things i use in my daily/weekly cooking.. three months of those things feels good. The second kind of prep are the professional freeze dried offerings made up of individual meals with a few bulk containers of meats and vegetables. This is for true grid-down use. I only have to prep for myself, and this system works for me. I don't have enough water yet but I'm working on it.

Ah Morgan excited about your "New" AK Adventure. Before adding preps I gotta add Dollars. Existing on Social Security Benefits only there is little left for preps. Considering the Weekend Banking Crisis...to be continued... I am throwing every extra cent to paying off debt and preparing for economic collapse ala Great Depression 2.0 in the awful immediate future. Snowball is rolling downhill. Best

yes i been at it since march 2020 and i still dont got it all im still working on my lists they are getting smaller but every day i find something we could still use my next purchase is a meat grinder we been rendering our beef tallow but when i have to cut up 10 lbs in tiny pieces it wears your arms out when your older so i am getting a meat grinder so i can at least do that then i can do my own burger too and sausage so its a multi use its justifiable i try to shop intentionally so we are not wasteful we are also not throwing away things unless we cant use things any more even for another use than what it was intended for before throwing it away
