Why to simplify?

There are many reasons, but most important to know is the decision to remove or suppress feature strongly depends upon the analysis context and application.
Usually holes , fillets don’t affect solution accuracy, however presence of small geometrical details influence numerical size of the model. In this case solution time will be also longer.
The other reason is meshing and related issues - due to topological issues meshing process cannot be accomplished.
As well as due to presence of wrong topology can lead to creation of highly distorted elements, which affects solution stability and accuracy.
