I'm American, which most of the time I'm actually ashamed to say lately, but anyway, I told people the correct pronunciation long ago when the sparkling water of that name came out. They all told me I was wrong, but i knew I wasn't. Now I definitely know i was right and will continue to pronounce it correctly while most Americans can look like morons. Thank you!
ОтветитьI'm British and i say it the French way for sure. Kroy is just so wrong!
ОтветитьIt’s an American brand whose own official pronunciation is “La Croy”. There’s other French words Americans use but pronounce differently because that’s how language is sometimes. A lot of languages borrow English words too and pronounce them differently and that’s fine. People need to move away from the “proper pronunciation” narrative because that is not how dialects and languages work in the real word. Props for the channel not suggesting anyway of saying it is necessarily wrong, rather they say “this is how we say it”.

ОтветитьThey didn't want to offend Americans who mispronounced it for so long. They decided to embrace the meme, and say they're right for calling it "La Croy". Meanwhile, those of us who speak more than one language know it's not how you would really pronounce it.
ОтветитьThank you very much.🙂
