NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super GPU Review & Benchmarks: Power Efficiency & Gaming

Looks like you’re either going 4070 Super or 4080 Super to me. Or… 7900XTX if they drop the price by £100.

Imagine if Nvidia runs into delays with the 50 series and launches a 4070 Super Ti

I think this is actually the single best value Nvidia has. It's the only decently priced card with 16gb. The regular super still only has 12gb. This offcourse doesn't really come out in all fps comparisons today, but in the coming years may increase the longevity of the card.

I would love to see how much the "idle" power consumption is. I'm one of those who are not using the GPU all the time, so that number would be really interesting.

I would really like to see 60 and 120 fps limited results. When possible to apply such restriction. GPU scaling was always interesting as it is nowhere as flexible as modern CPUs. Still there were always questions of how much the card really pulls and even should we sell a card and buy a smaller one to save energy. The questions resurfaced with 4090 vs 4080 where it made little sense to me at launch.

I honestly don't see the need to buy something at this outrageous price for one or two games that are badly optimized, this will only encourage companies to release unoptimized products, and it will get worse in the future.

Sure would be cool if we had a 4090ti, but no we get less dopey 70s/80s instead. I mean it's certainly a win, but mostly due to the gpu shortage pricing circumstance. Sure would be cool if we had used 4090s being sold as they upgraded to 4090tis, but that's the scenario Nvdia made great lengths to avoid. Nvdia being profit driven assholes what's new

well if you can find one at decent price it could be worth it for the vram bump, I think this will be a popular second hand card later down the line

I've got a 3080, and this just ruined my silly plans for upgrading, so thanks!
But let's see what happens with the 4080 super-ti-ti-super-awesome, or whatever it's called.
Man, I wish they'd just use that zero at the end though. It'd be a lot easier knowing that the 4087 is better than the 4082, which is better than the 4079 etc.

So in other words, skip this card and go for the 7900XT OR wait for the 4080S benchmarks to make your final decision.

Thank you for the huge mountain of work! However a lot of us think it is already time to retire those GTA V and Tomb Raider test. It would be worth considering replacing them with some incredibly well selling games during last year, like Elden Ring or Hogwarts Legacy? Especially since HL has some interesting variance in how different gpus perform, with different amount of ram as well.

Bought muy 7900xt for $500 on eBay because one guy broke a screw on the card and it was the best purchase I did in my life. Rocket card and I can play everything on maximum on 4k.

As someone who loves power efficiency. Thank you for putting up these good charts. I have a 4070 because of its efficiency and how good it can be in games i play. Was considering upgrading to the Ti Super but thank you for showing me it consumes nearly 100 watts more power. You saved me over 800 dollars o7

i think nvidia just shot themselfs in the foot with this card. the 7900XT just looking much more appealing. who really cares about RT this days anyway.

I kind of found this information and graphs a bit of a mess compared to the older format.
I think it'd be better for the power efficiency if you just did an average of FPS/W plus a sample of the 2-3 outliers for each toward the end along side the peak power consumption.

Great video as always! Is there any particular reason DLSS/FSR situations are not covered at all? Is it just that there are so many variables with those that it'd be impossible to give a full picture? I'm in the market for a 2070S upgrade and I'm looking at 4K performance but I don't mind DLSS in most games, trying to figure out if an AMD switch makes sense but not a lot of reputable places do FSR/DLSS benchmarking as well.

I think you can do efficiency FPS/W as a line on top of the FPS bar chart, depends on the chart solution you are using of course... Thinking it will also be natural to explain FPS and efficiency at the time as you go thru each games. Just my opinion... Quality content all the same. Thanks GN! I will have to stick my RTX 3080 for much longer.

Any thoughts on a power usage during "idle" or non game comparisons? For people who leave computers on but aren't always gaming most usage will be during that idle time.

I'm really glad I've got a few hundred watts of playroom with my 7900xt after seeing this. Liked the performance per watt, I think amd has some issues with power efficiency while bottlenecked.

Somebody needs to make a Franky(one piece) version of one of these super cards lol

For those who are confused about the FPS/W number... If you need the W/FPS instead, just divide 1 with the given number. So 0.272 FPS/W is 1 / 0.272=~3.677 W/FPS.
