The chrome Seiko name at twelve o'clock is jet black on my Willard, i don't want to touch it, the hands are as perfect as the dial and idecies have a tiny bit of rot, but less than 1%..... And yes I'm in love with this wonderful watch..... I've had Rolex etc but this watch does something to me..... I won't wear it nor any of my other vintage Siekos...

I saw several fibres in the build..... But none of us are perfect and we all do it and not deliberately... Great work and yes we are all tinkerers LOL... Willard is my grail watch and she was bought at the PX in Hawie at Pearl Harbour, she is boxed, inner and outer, priced, and named in the box and the docs included, I have 57 seikos and they all pail insignificantly to the Willard... I have three grand seikos from the 60s, and eight others from the sixties all gold, either plate or gold cap.... My daily work wear watch is a PADI seiko x.....

Thanks for your videos. Unfortunately, I'm completely untalented and therefore limit myself to watching. I was thinking about buying a steeldive Cap Willard, but I couldn't find the comparison video that was advertised. how do you see the seeldive? greetings from Germany Stefan

What a beautiful story and beautiful watch, I watched the entire video and enjoyed it so much. I hope you and your new friend are recovering well. I think leaving the original hands were the way too go as well.

Glad the health issues are cleared up. I don't have any Seiko's myself but I want to work on some based on watching you and others working with and talking about the simplicity of some of the springs and systems as compared to the Swiss stuff.

I could feel you when you were struggling with that spring in the quick set. Just yesterday was cleaning the click on a nh35 and it popped up like a tiddlywink. I looked for 2 hrs and never found it 😂 Glad to see I'm not the only one. Great work and thanks for sharing 👍

Lovely watch, lovely video, lots of good info for me. I've just "invested in" a stopped classic 6106-8100 which uses a very closely related movement (a Dainiseikosha 6106B). Supposing this on-line purchase lives up to the sales blurb that it has had but two owners from new and is all original, I could be onto a winner? I must say it was most comforting to get your information about interchangeability of many internal parts of the movement in Seikos of the period; and this together with a jeweller friends thumbs up prior to deciding to closing my deal, is leaving me feeling like I definitely did the right thing.
Keen to know how you get on with the hands on this Willard watch, so please post again once it's been decided if you will change them? Richard

I have this watch; I bought it in the ship's store in 1975 while in the US Navy. It was $99.99. It needs some work. It will only run for a few minutes after winding by rotating it. I had it serviced in 1982 by Seko in NYC. It's in much better shape than the one here.
I was not a diver we liked this watch because of the cool factor.

Are you UK based, trying to find someone who can repair my Seiko H601-5480 upside down Arnie that’s had battery leak after I left it in a draw for too long.
I’ve owned it from new, purchase in Singapore 2 months after it was made on October 1990.
I’m trying to get hold or a working watch with the same H601A movement to swap or use for parts.
Do you work on these or direct me to someone who can.
Thanks

It looks like someone has been playing inside the case, maybe to attempt to regulate it. Notice the 'pointer' is broken off the hair spring adjuster.....shoulda had new hands too.

Yes you were lucky to meet someone really special
I had the pleasure of meeting people in the same profession (at the place where I worked) and they are special... because you need a certain character and way of thinking to do this dangerous job
Your hobby is less dangerous 😀 but also requires know-how... which you demonstrate in your videos
Beautiful watch indeed which has the character of its owner

i have a sports 100 Seiko it worked for generations and works ok now keeps perfect time but it fell off my bed side table and the button doesn't work now think spring might be jammed ,the watch works fine except for that. don't seem to be able to find anywhere that can help with the problem maybe you could have a look for me? as with the Willard,, vid its got history went through my army service and then around world with g4s. etc i would say Seiko's are the best ever.

I wore the Captain Willard in Vietnam 1970-71 flying F-4s. Recently bought a black version for my younger brother and the blue for myself. I went through prostate cancer as well but did the radio active seeds (brachial therapy). Hope all went well with your treatment mate. I also went to Kings College Cambridge for healthcare before returning to the USA. Great video.
