WOW
ОтветитьGreat video as usual. I learned the hard way to check everything on the camera every time I went out. I was taking phots at night in Quebec city and I had my ISO set at 1000. The next day I forgot to check it and assumed that it was on Auto ISO; big mistake! It was a sunny day with no clouds and I was taking photos in a park around noon. Well I cursed myself so much after and promised to check all the settings every time I went out. That is my routine now to check all the settings.
ОтветитьThis channel is incredible. I've learned so much from you.
ОтветитьI've run into that 'empty memory cards/batteries' problem, except once I forgot to put in my memory card at all. Great video, Simon!
ОтветитьI just forget the memory card entirely
ОтветитьThanks for the great video. I'm curious to learn what your C1, C2 and C3 settings are. :)
ОтветитьI'm glad I always charge my batteries after and before the shoot, and check my memory cards😅 I separate empty with data
ОтветитьI love your advice: sensible and inspiring. Thank you!
ОтветитьFull card and empty battery - never. Full battery and NO cards - guilty...
ОтветитьKept the lens cap on when putting the camera into the housing and didn't realise until I was in the water.
ОтветитьI’m new to photography and want to improve. I have a telephoto lens and when I take zoomed in photos, the photos have this fuzzy, almost out-of-focus look that takes away from the sharpness of the photo. It might be the lens but if anyone has any tips for this it would be much appreciated! Also for shooting landscapes is it better to have a high or low aperture?
ОтветитьI am binge watching your videos. You actually give sound advice. 🔥
And I love your photos
incredible video! during it, I immediately went after my camera to see what it has to offer. never had thought some of these tips before, so really really thank you!!!
ОтветитьWhat are you using on the tripod to hold the long lens I need that
ОтветитьDud I like how you pronounce your last name it sounds like royalty, sir
ОтветитьGreat tips! The "emergency button" - aka, the "Oh, shit!" button
ОтветитьOh yes with lack of chimping - I did exactly the same thing a few weeks ago - Milky way panorama in a far away place. Checked the pics later to discover the strong wind had caused tiny bits of panning movement in each shot - All useless 😭
ОтветитьSuper video. Must admit I would’ve a bit intimidated if I found wolves both in front and behind me!
ОтветитьOlympus has this feature (pro capture mode) for years.
ОтветитьEmpty batteries or full memory cards have never happened to me. Not in 40 years. I have 4 batteries for a DSLR.
ОтветитьI have a Sony nex5t it doesn't have the emergency button but it does have the MR on the dial I never use that I'm gonna give it a try thanks
ОтветитьCan you also do these hacks with the Olympus OMD EM1 MARK III?
ОтветитьI love your videos so much and I am a wedding photographer!!!! I always come to your videos first when I am searching for an answer. Truly I respect and appreciate your knowledge! I have learned so much from you Simon.. thank you I am so happy to have found your videos!!!! 🎉❤
ОтветитьMost practical tips I ever get online is from Simon :)
ОтветитьSimon, your in front of the lens presentation is SO MUCH BETTER than when you began posting! We would dare say your 'performance' now is more professional and engaging.
ОтветитьStill producing the best tutorials on YT! Thank you.
ОтветитьI lost this shot, because my memory card was full: I was in an open air seat on top of a double-decker tour bus on Michigan Avenue in Chicago when the bus stopped in traffic directly in front of the Apple Store, which had opened only the week before. I was perfectly positioned to take a picture of the storefront with the Second story window shaped like the Apple logo right in front of me. I raised my digital camera, went to take the picture and got the signal that the memory card was full. I frantically went into review mode, deleted a few shots, just as traffic moved ahead, and the shot of a lifetime was left behind.
From then on, I never went anywhere with my camera without at least a couple of extra memory cards. 💔
It frustrates me no end that older canons don’t allow exposure compensation on Manual mode, making auto iso on Manual mode almost useless! (at least on my old hobby 70d)
Why they never pushed this in a software update is beyond me.. manual with auto iso & exposure compensation seems like it gives u the most ready to go and controllable walk-around settings, otherwise u have to trust the minimum shutter speed setting in Aperture mode or widest aperture in Shutter mode.. which don’t allow the most intuitive or full control..
I have been meaning to try out magicLantern as I’ve heard tht adds the ability, & also focus peaking, but it doesn’t look 100% straightforward & I haven’t gotten around to trying it out.
I always have spare batteries in my camerabag. As soon as a battery is empty, I don't put the empty battery back in my camera bag but in the pocket of my trousers. When I come back home the battery in the pocket of my trousers will remind me to start charging ;-)
ОтветитьI have an M50 MKII, known for it's awfully short battery life 😭 but I only own two batteries. I take my battery charger and a power bank out with me, when one battery depletes I charge it while I use the next one, this gives me over 40K photos before I'm out.. Safe to say I've never ran out 😭
ОтветитьAn emergency button... who would have thought...? Thank you Simon! I have set this up and I'm sure it'll come in handy going forward. btw - Great shots of that owl!!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
ОтветитьI have never ran out of battery or filled up memory card when i wanted to take a shot. what do I win? ;)
ОтветитьThese are great tips. Thank you for sharing these tips. I will implement these into my shooting for sure
ОтветитьAbsolutely great suggestions! Mostly the first one about putting back your settings to "Fast Action" before you move on. I had one of my best photo ever in 35 years on top of a mountain during a hike when I was 100% alone during a beautiful orange sunset last autumn and suddenly out of nowhere I hear loud shaking in the bush behind me so I turn around and all I see is a huge eagle pop out of the bush and fly in the sky directly in front of the sun, MY GOD it was amazing! I was so happy I still had my 100-400mm on the A7IV or that I wasn't swapping lens when it happened. However I was a bit mad that I forgot my settings on manual focus and F11 instead of automatic bird focus and F5.6 but I still pulled among my best pictures, just that it could had been ever better!
About the "Emergency Button", is there a way to program such thing for the (Sony A7IV)? I used to have a R6 but I ain't going back to Canon with their no-thirdparty policy.
Great tips
ОтветитьGreat advice as always Simon. 👏👏👏
ОтветитьÇa fait peur, entre 2 conseils logiques il est obligé d’essayer de vendre sa merde, si au moins les conseils étaient vraiment intéressants!
ОтветитьI shoot Sony FF , and my camera (A7RV) allows me to save 3 Settings for photo and 3 for video, a great feature , not familiar with Canon, but, this is a game changer for me, I have one setting for Portrait, another one for action and the last one for landscape/stills.......there is a dial with the 3 settings to change it ......
ОтветитьMy spare memory card lives inside the camera. That's the only reason I care for having a 2nd card slot in the camera. There's almost always at least one memory card in the camera at any time. Usually two.
ОтветитьElle est chouette la chouette. Bon ok je sors. Bonne année en images et vidéos Master of Sharpness.
ОтветитьMight be a dummy question, but as I set up my emergency button with these settings, as I set my AUTO ISO, the ISO goes up to 204000 - a tad grainy IMO. What to do?
ОтветитьThe photo with the owl, heading towards you in flight, is amazing!
ОтветитьCan you slow down the instructions for the emergency settings please.
ОтветитьWonderful tips, Simon! Your suggestions are incredibly helpful and spot-on! The examples from your work are incredible, thank you so much for sharing them!
ОтветитьThanks for the e-book
ОтветитьGood pointers! I'm going to check the emergency button!
ОтветитьActually! Preparation is half the photo. After decades, I find myself still putting the camera down with the last settings. At the time of analogue photography this wasn't a problem - there were only a few settings. Today it takes a lot of time to restore a solid basic attitude. For this reason, I operate my Nikon Z fc exactly like an analogue with autofocus and an "always right lens" with 35mm.
ОтветитьYou are a walking talking encyclopedia of photography.
ОтветитьCanon R5 Register / Recall - does anyone use this customized function? I have been trying for ~ 10 hrs to make this work without luck. I have watched Simon's, Duade's, and Jan's, video's... and it simply doesn't work on my camera. I have seen a post that has similar symptoms on the R3 that indicates the panning assist needs to be disabled, but the panning assist option doesn't exist on R5. So if anyone has some insight I would appreciate it
