(2) Size

It defeats hypothetical Russian body armor and the system itself is suffering from serious reliability and quality control issues. I think it's another massive boondoggle in the spirit of the armys "universal camouflage pattern" that universally didn't work

This new rifle is the biggest piece of crap ever made. For one thing every single piece of body armor taken off dead Russian solders in Ukraine is made of very cheap metal or even wood and they are so weak that even a 9mm can go through it with no problem. The second thing is that if we do get in a war with China it will be almost nothing but air and navel warfare. This rifle is made for a non existent threat.

5.56 62 gr is very FAST and has more than enough EFECTIVE Impact/energy....PROVED, and the magazine con carry 30 o more ammo saving weight compare to 6.8. This "Proyect" has NOTHING to do with AMMO EFFECTIVENESS ..., this is just BUSINESS/CORRUPTION.

The weight of that thing plus ammunition will make troops completely static.
I know I don't want to move around with such a bazooka.
They should go with minimal calibre increase and develop high pressure shells in order to send a slightly heavier bullet faster than the 556 while retaining the same mag capacity
Manoeuvrability and weight is essential in combat.
This caliber should be only used for SAW and DMR.
Honestly at this point I even think a 762 ak is a better option.

6.8x51 is not penetrating lvl IV armor, I don’t care if its hybrid case gives it a tiny velocity hike. Lvl IV (real armor) stops 338L all the time. Russians don’t have real body armor either way, we’ve known that for years. Stupid gun, stupid optic, and REALLY stupid decision for the army. I’m not surprised though, they pretty much have a monopoly on bad decisions

Its basically the 6.5 creedmore and 6.5 grendel but in a platform that would require a whole new manufacturing chain. Which may or may not be bad depending on what weight/size rounds are used.
