Have a 2006 Passat. I do not have a check engine light or any codes, but I have noticed a drastic drop in my fuel economy. About a 5 to 7 MPG drop. I just did this procedure, and the engine stayed on. It shuddered some when I unplugged it, but it kept going. Ordered a new MAS. Lets see what that does.

My 04 explorer starts but wont stay running when the MAF is connected but starts up and runs with it disconnected. But the acceleration is very low and really rough idle. Gonna replace the MAF and see what happens

This is incorrect. This will only work on one or two cars. Do not listen to this guy, he knows nothing. The vehicle will revert to preset fuelling. The engine will not cut out.

It’s not 100% proof. It works in most cases but isn’t absolute. Love the video though.

How much does a dealership charge to replace on my 2016 mini cooper countryman mass air flow senser?

Is this with any car? If you disconnect the MAF when running and it keeps running it good but if it stalls it’s bad?

Im not sure but i think if u disconnect in some car it keeps running because the car enter in a backup mode and uses old values

One thing to add to this video is, if you're going to replace your MAF sensor DO NOT buy a cheap aftermarket item. They are a waste of money. Buy either the vehicle manufacturers own OR OEM quality.

Well yes and no you could also have an electrical problem bad ground, 5v to the sensor not working properly or no 12-volt power to the sensor or ground for the 5v power

Just had one bad, there was lean bank 1 and bank 2. Found torn intake boot, thought that would fix. There was still a stumble when i mash the gas so replace the MAF and it was fixed.

Try cleaning them first with some mass air flow sensor cleaner made by CRC because these things are very sensitive to air flow across precise precious metal wires and can become clogged with dirt and grime from the air box also replace your engine air box filter folks while your at it

2008 Mustang GT - I disconnected the sensor, the engine surged a bit and kept running. Upon reconnecting the sensor the engine stalled. The fact of getting a reaction from the engine tells me that computer recognizes the sensor. I guess the sensor still could be bad. Scratching my head at this point. I’m torn between a bad TPS or a bad MAF
