Tama Drums History by year - All Kits part 1

I first started buying Modern Drummer magazine in the early ‘80s as a kid and drooled over the Imperial Stars and Swing Stars. The coolest drummers played Tama at the time.

80s was the best decade ever for music for everything

Even the old 70s 80s swingstar sets sounded good

I'm jealous I wish I was a teenager in the 70s and was able to buy all those beautiful Tammy drum sets back then

My first kit was an '89 Rockstar 5-pc. Great tone. The best bass drum sound I ever got to this day.

I bought my first kit in High School @ '78! It was The Mercury 5 Imperialstar and I still play them to this day!!!

I began playing drums in 1977 with my brother David (guitar) in our street fairs clubs band silver wings ✈️ test flight. I began with drums my mother purchased for me. These were "DRUMMATE" drums. That was a line that would be related to TAMA drums. The drummate drums is what I learned on and i am very proud and grateful for. ......also 'thank you mom !. (Silver wings ✈️ test flight had a long great live playing period from 1977 to 1986) . And later i was playing on TAMA brand drums.
