The Pee-Wee's Playhouse Christmas Special is an Underrated Gem

I have watched this special every year from the first time it was broadcast, to the VHS I recorded from it, to later the DVD and VHS releases - every year since its debut. This might actually be the FIRST year since that I do NOT watch it. When Prince (fan since 85) died, I couldn't listen to his music for like 6mo. Bowie and Sinead got a pass, just a day or two- but I do NOT mourn the loss of an artist I like that way. I need a little buffer. Luckily, he left this behind for us to enjoy for as long as screens play these sort of program things, whatever the format or whatever TV/movies are at that point.

maybe I've been watching too much mst3k lately but the new setup is vaguely reminding me of mst3k. have you considered building some robot friends?

Watch it every year

Couple things:
1) The central joke of the Christmas Special is that Pee-Wee is terrible to the guest stars, which makes knowing that Dinah Shore did her cameo in front of a mostly-ignored portion of the Playhouse set a hundred times funnier.

2) Some fans believe that k.d. lang was supposed to have performed "Dominic the Donkey," but for some reason it was switched out to "Jingle Bell Rock." It's the far more peppy Italian-inspired beat she uses.

Hello! Discovered your channel recently and love the videos you make! Can I make a suggestion of Hobart and Cosmo: On The Tracks? It's such a strange tape but it has some surprising accuracies and depth at some points... before immediately going and saying something not wholly correct. And it's got some weird character choices (a space guy and a platypus?) and a banger theme song. Just thought it could be worth your time! Again, great videos!
