Cheng xin would have to live here forever and was bonded to the button for eternity….

Anyway, nek minute she doomed humanity again and pops off to do it a few more times before skipping to the end of time and screwing that up as well 😂😂

This plot point alone made me lose all respect for cixin liu and drop his books forever.

See me and all other women as inferiors who are weak? Okay going to go read someone with sentience. Never recommend his books, i always redirect people talking about his to other works with real value and mention this plot point and his views.

Why do they need a human as a sword holder why not automate the system? And if the aliens can hack into computers they can hack into the computers of the detection grid or communication so the sword holder would not even be aware of an attack in the first place. This makes no sense.

There is an underlying sexism to the representation of the second and last swordholder as an indecisive and dangerously sentimental peacenik where flimsy maternal appeals caused them to hesitate in their duties. That being said, it's a bit infuriating how the character's weakness cost humanity everything. It's also perplexing to me that they would leave the selection of something as strategically important as the swordholder up to popular vote. That's honestly not something you leave up to the general population to decide. It's also not something you leave up to one individual. There's no way in reality that there wouldn't be redundancies put in place for such an important system. It strains credibility.

That being said, the xenocidal premise of the story itself assumes that any species who develops the godlike technical advancements needed to wipe out entire solar systems would be just as depraved and driven by a zero sum mindset as humans can be. It could equally stand to reason that any race advanced enough to develop the powers to destroy entire solar systems and traverse interstellar distances would need to possess more enlightened sensibilities to even get to that stage of development. A less socially advanced race would presumably destroy itself long before acquiring such capabilities, creating a self limiting bottleneck where the dark forest hypothesis would only apply to the kinds of races that couldn't actually advance to the level of being a threat to the wider galaxy, whereas more enlightened races wouldn't really be inclined to abuse their powers to pre-emptively wipe out their stellar neighbors in the first place. Thus they would wield their godlike powers responsibly. Because that tendency to wield power responsibly is also why they were able to advance to that level in the first place, which brings the dark forest hypothesis into question.

This series was highly overrated, as most popular literature is. Imagine writing hard sci-fi and then getting even the most basic science wrong. Trisolaris is based on the Alpha Centauri system which does in fact have three stars, but it is not chaotic and unpredictable. Two stars orbit each other very closely while the third follows a stable orbit far away. Three body systems can be simulated quite easily and in fact they tend to stabilize pretty quickly. Every book in this series has major flaws in it's most basic scientific premise. If you're going to write hard scifi, get the science right. At the very least take 5 minues to skim a couple wikipedia articles. If this is what passes for great literature in China it is no wonder the country is such a disaster

What type of woke agenda lead to her being nominated or elected . Humanity got what it deserved for such foolishly idealistic decision making in the face of what I’m sure was undeniable evidence that it was a bad choice .

One of the things that has always impressed me about this series is how carefully tiered the levels of destruction are, in such a way that every act seems more horrific as it steps up, from teardrops to photoids to 2d bombs it all scales in the narrative in a way that both prepares you to grasp the next level of scale while always exceeding the imagination on the level of 'bump up' for the devastation. Masterful writing

I wonder why they didn't phase the Swordbearer system into a less convoluted one. In the end the spaceships were able to transmit both worlds coordinates and that seems to be a more effective method. It doesn't involve immediate destruction so it also has a lower moral/emphatic choice and so higher chances of working but it still brings destruction. Plus, ships can change position more easily so they function like nuclear submarine ICBM systems.

Stop with the masculinity and femininity warning. If you can’t handle reading about opposing ideas than the ones you currently hold than you are a spoiled child. “ oh no this my feelings I am enraged! I need to stop everyone who thinks differently than me!!”. People like that are the problem with the world.

Other than that great job!
