Also fun fact: the PS Vita Call of Duty was originally supposed to be a full port of Black Ops 2, but went through development hell and was redone in the span of a few months as Blops: Declassified. A damn shame. If a good, working port of Blops 2 made it onto the system, perhaps with PS3 crossplay connectivity for multiplayer and zombies, it easily would’ve been a system-seller.

No wonder the PSP Go flopped. You would have to buy all the games digitally, which is expensive, AND you need to have high capacity memory card, which was also very expensive. Also, back in the day, there were games, that were exclusively physical and weren't listed in the Playstation Store. And for people who already owned a PSP, the PSP Go would have been a big downgrade, since you simply can't play your entire physical library of PSP games anymore.

Imagine if they just replaced the memory sticks with regular sd cards…

If i were the owner of Sony, i would fix all the handheld console, fix the pricing of the ps vita storage drive, and bring back all older console, and make the console that is compatible with online and bring them back to online? and bring it all back so people can buy, with out worrying about the price tag, and i would make it so people can have fun, not with any composition with and other console like Xbox and Nintendo, and i still if i were the owner of Sony i would drop the prices on some of the console, and accessories so people can have fun, that's what a console need it to be fun, not so dang expensive, so the rich people can show off, to the average and poor people, they need it to be a reasonable price for all, not just for one? a console for the whole family to enjoy, everyone need to enjoy the same experience as other's do. sorry for perching, but that what i would do, and it's just a matter of opinion.

I'm waiting for PSVITA to have the PSP Adrenaline's Native Resolution (GE_Patch plugin) ... PSP has the best library ever!.. For now I'm just gonna enjoy my PSVITA games and PSP Games on PSP 😊

The remember my friend just bought himself the psp1000 the first year they were out then one day he was sailing it for 25.00(CAD) with about 12 games and movies, batteries and 2 memory cards. What a deal. I could not pass that offer up. He just needed the money he said.

Vita is the best among all, you are definitely right about that. Sony made a very big mistake by representing it very expensively. Its capabilities are even useful today, the community of Vita developers made a ton of ports, emulators and utilities that made it a complete retro machine. Today I can play basically anything on my vita if it can be streamed in PS4, PS3 and PC, I can use it as a gamepad or any kind of retro console such as Nintendo x64, GameBoy, GBA etc. It was such a shame Sony didn't built upon such an amazing, high potential product, now developers are doing what Sony should have done at the time.

I was one of the kids in my high school who decided that I wanted the PSP for the upcoming holiday instead of the OG "BRICK DS" (what we in our high school called the OG Nintendo DS it it looked like a folding silver brick). In fact, I was one out of only two kids who actually wanted the PSP, since every other kid in my high school were huge Nintendo Fan Boys. But me and this other kid, he was coincidentally my next door neighbor, got our PSPs for Christmas that year, we started showing the Nintendo Boys what the PSPs could do, and basically made them feel bad for opting for inferior handhelds.

In fact, my neighbor was literally the first kid in the entire school district to show off what he put onto his PSP's Photo viewer... and I think you can guess what that was. ;)
The best part was I ended up getting the, mostly unknown, "Giga Pack" which came with virtually everything that the 'Value Pack' came with, but replaced the 32MB Memory Stick Duo with the 1GB version (which was a goldish color), and didn't come with a wrist strap (the one that felt like leather and had the PlayStation symbols embossed on it), but DID come with a USB Mini - B cable, which in my area was quite hard to come by, AND the coveted PSP Display Stand, which was a beautiful clear plastic that gave off the vide of being made of the purist crystal available, even though it was rather cheap and would scuff and scratch if you even sneezed on it.

I even got two UMDs for that Christmas, which were a game and a Movie, The game was INFECTED (super funny and super fun game), and the movie was 'The Nightmare Before Christmas', which thoroughly impressed me with what all was available on the UMD in regards to special features! The UMD film had the standard "Subtitles" and "Languages" for the audio and for people who were hearing impaired, but it also had BTS footage and a 'Making Of Featurette' as well as trailers for Tim Burton's other films, and it even had one of Tim Burton's first films he ever wrote and directed called "Franken-Weenie", which was an old Black and White film about the Frankenstein Monster, but replaced Doctor Frankenstein with a little boy, and the monster with his dog he was trying to resurrect.

I was even one of the people that opted to buy the 3G PSVita, since I felt it was the far better value, especially since you didn't even need to activate the 3G functionality and could just use it as the Wi-Fi model, but it also included a free game (Little Deviants), AND it came with a Memory Card (which was quite expensive at the time, though I think it was a 4GB one, I could be wrong about the size).

I even had that very Vita up until I started planning my first Gaming PC build, and traded it for a Dell Optiplex which had an Intel i5 - 4590, which I used as a base for the PC, and I'm still using that PC to this day! Though I'm looking for another 3G Vita, for Nostalgia's sake.

Sony were the Kings of Handhelds, but they have a tendency to go the Google route of cutting ties with things that start to wain from their projected profits predictions.
If Sony had just invested a bit more time, and just a smidgen of effort, into improving the Vita's options as well as giving it just a couple more features, and possibly trimming some of the fat that plagued it at launch (like the lack of decent games), then it would have been an even greater success than the 3DS, and would have solidified Nintendo's handheld market defeat.

i have psp 1000 and ps vita 1000 :D love my vita its the best homebrew machine added with all its great games! my psp has ghosting so i dont play on it much but am keeping it.

I’d say playstation portable devices are my favorite of all consoles…. Nintendo is a pain but Xbox is a good bedroom device … but psp … hits different and that’s a good thing

I gotta say out of all of the PSP and PS Vita line, nothing beats the original model PS Vita. The OLED screen looks AMAZING and while it might be a bit thicker and heavier than the updated model of the Vita, this is SO MUCH better because it feels better in the hands, and it's just a bit nicer for people with larger hands. The Vita was great in terms of the ability to play both newer Vita games and (with the help of homebrew) older PSP games that you had dumped on your original system. I moved my entire library of UMDs from my PSP 3000 to the PS Vita, and it really felt like I was experiencing games I loved so much in a new dept because of that OLED screen.

I'm so mad that Sony decided to drop their line of handhelds. The Vita just came at the wrong time with the rise of mobile games, and the Switch came at the right time when everyone was finally fed up with micro-transactions. If Sony were to release a new handheld console right now, they could probably destroy the Switch given powerful enough hardware and better support for remote play/cloud gaming. I miss the PSP line, it was something so unique that was never truly replicated, and it's so sad that the Sony's portable Swan Song was a cost-reduced version of their best portable ever.
