General Dwight D. Eisenhower famously stated that four things helped win World War II: 1 the bazooka 2 the Jeep, 3 the atomic bomb, and 4 the C-47 Skytrain. I would have thought that the ZIPPO lighter would have been up there too...

My father inlaw worked on sections of Mulberry Harbour as a young engineer at Butterley Engineering Ripley Derbyshire.
They had no idea what the sections were for as it was top secret.

I appreciated your observation on the intensely blue skies. Too often war dramas are filmed through muddy khaki lens filters. Sometimes you would be led to think there was no such thing as bright colour or sunlight at all in those days.

the unsung sapper / engineer Ben - infield MC for keeping the talent happy and doing all that excellent filming.
4hrs, what a treat. 👏🏻
CWGC cemetries are so moving, the peace, so well kept, the personalised messages and simple layout without jingoism.

Such a shame James chooses this idiot to make videos with - he's an anti-Brexit, British hating gobshite and anythign with him in it is unwatchable. Please ditch him James, you don't need him.

Maybe general Fanny was enjoying his namesake and taking French lessons too.
I can certainly see how paratroopers causes confusion, especially considering how they came across Rubber Soul, they must've time travelled to get that album 😂 🤣 I'm confused 🤔 without a doubt 🤨🧐 I'd rather like a time machine myself and confused how they got one!🤨
I've thoroughly enjoyed your presentation everyone.
The reinacting of the various people is very amusing, much like the futility of the tea ☕ brewing device 😂 🤣
How did they get any brewed with that kit anyway?🤣
Or are they still waiting for their first cuppa til this very day?🤣☕
Thanks again 👍 I hope you fellows have more to come.

One reason for the lack of beach defences was that the Germans were sure that any invasion would be focused on capturing a port or harbour. It apparently never occurred to them that (in light of the fiasco at Dieppe), we would bring our own harbours and assemble them on the coast.

In case anyone hasn't mentioned it, a ditch is open to the sky, a culvert is not. It's a covered drainage pipe of one sort or another.

Canadians erased by Brits. Typical. The Canadian Army had the second toughest beach after Omaha and advanced the farthest inland of any of the armies on D-Day. But don't mention it.

A bit surprised, high detail fantastic vid about D-Day discusses Sword , gold,.... Not Juno??..., Omaha and Utah.
Hammond has never let my fathers down... Until now. What gives Hammond?? Quite a revision, mere mentions, but no segment. 🇨🇦🇬🇧🇺🇸
Getting more disgusted every minute.

Well James & Al, you gentlemen are a bit younger than my 69 years.

What strikes me is the 2nd world war was my father's era & as a ten year old in 1965 the war had seemed to me to have been ancient history, but it hardly was & much of Europe was likely still recovering in 1965 from the consequences brought on by the German madman called Adolf.

On the other hand having once been a project manager of large industrial buildings looking at the Normandy invasion alone, I shudder when thinking of the logistics & planning that was required to pull off the invasion. You have to ask, how on earth did it all come together without being a complete disaster?

I've often mused in wonderment, considering the volume of commemoration and monumentation of the Allied effort to defeat the German war effort, will it last ? Will in hold as important in our collective memory generations from now ? I try to imagine a generation hence the "landings" in Hastings, with the last vestiges of veterans assembling to remember the feats of the day. While I'm fairly certain that it didn't occur, will our desire to remember important events of our past diminish over time to the point when historians debate whether or not an event had occurred. What shall become of us if we forget, ........ just wondering.

As an American, I'd say this is the least respected show case of the "D-Day invasion locations " and the commentary it's straight gibberish from two English fucks that do more joking around then straight information to the viewers. I've watched more independent journalist do a better job.
