I'm practicing this for myself. As I can almost never behave in a social environment, and miss so many great opportunities.
As a child true fear of dogs would freeze me. As an adult I forgot how to fear anything. The very sense of fear angers me now and I face it headlong.

ОтветитьIn confrontational situations I have experienced gripping back pain which is more concerning than the situation I'm in! As I get older the more obvious it is that I need to find peace but its hard when you're surrounded by troubled people who, unable to find peace want to destroy yours.

ОтветитьI had to LOL when she said we can't tell ourselves "Don't be anxious, don't be anxious!". I have tried that a billion times and it never works.
My fight response is always turned on which has caused soooo many issues in my own life, in the life of my current spouse, in the life of my ex spouse, in the lives of my kids and my family.
I don't know when it got switched on....but it's not only switched on, that switch is super glued, bolted and screwed into the 'on' position and has actually caused me heart problems now. I can't ever relax, I can't ever sleep well, I can't even sit down and have our loving kitty on my lap or chest without anxiety kicking in. Like, who does that? It's a cat...she just wants to love on me.
I truly need some kind of trauma counseling or something.

ОтветитьYour body feels like very brittle glass, not only if it's hard to move or straight-up not possible, you don't feel your skin anymore, you are worried that if you do, you'll do more damage.
You might not even be thinking that in your head, but your body WILL. Either way your body wont even move when you want it to, say the things you want, but you're just trapped inside your own head.

ОтветитьIf only it were a person who made this occur that were to then help to make you feel safe instead of run and never return after your freeze response, it would have been not only nice but helpful and maybe life changing to the positive for both! It does not always have to be in light of a negative for the duration. Good grief!

ОтветитьI would really like to know how to get out of the bad habit of fight or flight at night. I hear any small noise and I'm up straight away because of the sudden anxiety in my stomach even though I know I'm safe. Then I cant fall asleep for ages 😩

ОтветитьYou may think something wrong with me but I was at camp at the age of 14 years old and they played a trick on me and turned my grandmother was on the phone and I had to go to the phone to talk to or something important. This was at 11 o’clock at night and I’m walking through the woods with my flashlight from the cabin to the cottage where the phone is because back in the 80s I’m 60 years old this guy jumps out from behind a tree was ugly moaning, growing coming at me. They played this prank on me. The kids at it at the camp told us stories about old man Logan‘s grave. My brother warned him don’t play with my brother he ain’t gonna run he gonna knock your ass out. They didn’t believe them they came out well you came out of the woods, looking like a bear, I’ll turn the flashlight around with a battery for At ran up to the bear and jumped on top of the bear and beat the hell off the bear until he has a tow up he had that pull me off of him, and he had to go to hospital came back with a patch die messed him up pretty bad. I feel bad about it but I don’t feel bad about it my brother warned you. So we don’t all run. 😅
