Regarding the rolling: I don't see many boats using devices to damper that. I have seen folks make anti roll devices that hang off either the spinn pole or the boom. They are weighted down, and on the down roll they empty, on the up roll they are full and the holes are closed. I wondeer if that would help. I thought of making one using a plastic milk box with canvas flappers.
ОтветитьGood vid ya'll.
Ответитьgreat video am from Nevis thought you would have stayed longer
ОтветитьLove the yacht, people and the story. New subscriber, hope you don't mind if I live a little vicariously. Keep up the good works.
ОтветитьNicely done!
ОтветитьI just found your videos and watched all (3) of them. You made a magnificent start and I hope to see many more videos of this great quality on your channel in the next few weeks! Thank you so much.
ОтветитьHello N&T, New subscriber. Great job. I look forward to following your adventures.
Videography, narration and music are spot on. Happy sailing from SC, USA.
I knew I detected an Aussie accent and the seeing the flag on the spreader confirmed it! Enjoying your videos and will follow your adventures. Cheers
ОтветитьI enjoyed it... thanks for sharing
ОтветитьHi guys, almost too much fun going on to watch!
But I'm glad in not in that heat!( maybe).
Re the "power sailer or spinnaker" as a starting point for lead angle I would bisect the angle of the 2 edges of the sail as a starting point for most stability ..... so the fairlead should be way aft. I don't see " follow the boat " on your channel list .....nice English folks. Cheers Warren
Hahaha you two are fantastic, your spinnaker=our gennaker every season... "seriously does it look right, shouldn't we have that there and the other thing here.." hahah loved it.!
This blog is most definitely one of my favorites, thanks for for sharing...
Warren
Maybe, if you can't handle the natural rolly condition of sailing vessel, perhaps you should try one of those super yachts you feel so curious about...
Ответитьgreat vid. You have the tweaker too tight on your sheet, so the spinnaker is "choked" , that is why the shape looks funny. Tweak down on the guy but let the sheet run loose.
ОтветитьLook dude the people that own those yacht dont live on them. They just buy them to tick a box then go back to work destroying people and enslaving third world workers to pay for them.
ОтветитьHey Nick and Terysa, new subscriber! The hangover / lesser man comment was hilarious. Thanks and keep up the great vids. Just curious , who does most of the editing?
Ответить"It will just make you feel dirty. " LOL
Ответитьnice video..by the way what are you guys do for work..and did you leave your work for sailing or you are on vacation..thanks
ОтветитьIt is perhaps a bit late to comment as perhaps you are aware but I am just catching up on your vids. Re: the swell with wind change. There is a technique that I have heard but not yet used where you can tie a line off on your anchor chain a few feet off the bow and then attach the other end astern and directed to a winch. By tightening up you can pull the bow into the swell so a smother ride. If you try it let me know how it goes. Keep ups the great vids :)
ОтветитьGreat vids, but you needs some compelling music like from one of the Clint Eastwood movies.
ОтветитьLOL...
If I were a Lesser man....
Those chords will never sound right if you keep playing that thing upside down!
ОтветитьI can assure you, that you guys are having much more fun than those snotty noses on those juice guzzling stink boats. I have observed them looking at us having drinks and laughs on deck while they are paranoid should someone drop caviar on their precious deck.
ОтветитьIs there a place with the type/specs on your vessel. I know nothing about boating, but very interested in it, since I live in the Tampa Bay area.
ОтветитьAnd that, folks, is why we don't buy inflatable paddle boards.
ОтветитьAnother comment I wanted to mention. I really like how you both seem like normal folks. You do not pretend to be something or someone you are not. You argue, you make mistakes, you have a couple extra pounds (well, Nick does, lol, no offense mate, I do too) and it just feels good knowing that you don't have to be perfect to make great videos and have a successful following of subscribers and fans. Good on the both of you! I'll be watching for more. Always learning something. Mahalos!
ОтветитьHow is it that you can't sleep while the boat is rocking. How did you guys survive the first season if you need to be still as on land while sleeping?? it's not criticism, I'm just asking:) Thank you for these nice videos, I have subscribed👍
ОтветитьNice video quaintly and sound was good .love the sailing thanks for sharing
Ответитьhow much you pay in each place please share it. Thanks
ОтветитьWe've had the same paddle board. Christmas present. So far so good. Love having
6 knots cursing speed. Looks so peaceful n beautiful mountains/hills. ❤
I don't know anything about sailing but that is so cool when it's up
ОтветитьVery cool episode thanks!
So if you were on a cat instead of a monohull, I'd imagine that would significantly reduce the rolling motion while at anchor or tied to a buoy? Or not? Thanks!
FORGOT YOUR PAPERS!!! hahahahabouahhahah well not that much we actually forgot our boat keys once and had to break in our own boat. Gosh still remember that moment at the airport :(
ОтветитьNice video. Catching up on your older stuff here.
That parasail is beautiful. I am so jealous. Our own Spinnaker is a Frankenstein affair that used to be a symetrical that has been cut down to an asym, and it's a million years old. Last year when I took it to the sail loft to have it inspected the guy laughed and said if we got any more sails out of that we'd be ahead of the game. Time to start shopping for something new I guess.
I'd sheet yours Waaaaay back as far as I could get it, like maybe almost behind the winch near the transom. Perhaps hook a snatch block to one of the bails on the aftmost stanchion mounts, the stern rail, or perhaps there is some track back there mounted on the back deck just for spinnakers. I ran a sweet parasail like that although way larger on a Lagoon 380 cat that I was mate on for a trip to Cuba and back from the Fl Keys and it was a blast for downwind sailing. Remember to never put a stopper knot on the spin sheets. You don't want a spinnaker, even a nice tame parasail like that, getting away from you and dragging you into a death-roll in a bad blow that pops up out of nowhere. Better to let the sheets go and let the sail flog for a bit. As expensive as those cruising chutes can be they are still cheaper than losing your rigging or your whole boat in a worst case scenario.
The rolling at anchorage didn't seem all that bad. We are used to the pounding we got on a weekly basis here in the downtown Chicago harbor we have been in for the last couple of seasons. It was totally brutal. watching the boats around us it was like inside a clock repair shop with the pendulums rocking all over the place. I should upload a few videos of that on our own channel as I think I captured a few days where it was crazy.
What the hell was your neighbor doing swinging out around his mast?
ОтветитьCover your paddle boards- the heat makes them blow up...LOL
ОтветитьFunny...St. BArts isn't even that great of a looking place...
ОтветитьHangover you are a man after my own heart and my son is as bad, when we are on holiday of course lol. Many thanks for video.
ОтветитьBinge Watching!
ОтветитьSo.... I/m finally getting a chance to binge your videos and they are building the anticipation for our upcoming extended sailing trip! Can't wait!
ОтветитьLol when poking out of your hatch to converse
ОтветитьHaven't commented yet, but I'm just starting to binge on your chanel now and unless I'm wrong, you're currently in the Pacific but I wanted to let you know that you two are a growing inspiration for me and my GF. We are looking to do the same thing in the near future and absolutely love all the insight you are providing. Caught wind of you two through your '5 Years Living on a Sailboat' video on the Exploring Alternatives channel and fell in love with you both! Thank you, TY for making these videos!
ОтветитьI just found this couple..i like their style...on land they show the beauty of the place visiting..and they go to cafe's/restaurants...thats what i love to see..i loved the passage of the french canal..really beautyful
ОтветитьCurrently watching your "Binge Watch" playlist. I've been following you two for more than a year now and it's interesting to see how you two started out. Although it's pretty clear you're new these are good episodes. Your editing skills have leveled up considerably! Cheers
Ответить“If I was a lesser man”. I use this statement all the time. 😂
Ответить"We probably won't have a paddle board for the rest of the season" 1st world problems.
ОтветитьPity you didn't get a chance to stay in Nevis.. That's where I'm from. I just found your channel and started watching from the beginning.
ОтветитьNice video guys. Hope you are still enjoying your travels My old stomping ground. Shame you didn’t stay in Nevis ( kneeVis) and do a tour round the Island. The queen of the Caribbean and one of my favourite Island’s. Lived there for 7 years. Cheers
ОтветитьI have never been on a superyacht, despite living near Puerto Banus! However, I have met an owner numerous times. He has a holiday home near me. He comes across as a very nice guy. Happy to have a beer or two with me when I have finished my job there. So don't pre-judge the owners, just because of their wealth!
