The vast majority of MMOs don't post their active player numbers, so where are these coming from? In some games you can check the achievements/collectibles tied to the latest content and use them as a somewhat accurate guide, but what about the other games? Is this using Reddit follower counts like that other fake "analytics" website?

Wow is a cesspool now with Activision turning Blizzard into the new EA. Oldschool Runescape, classic, i got nothing to say about it. Good shit. FFXIV is my addiction and will always be #1 xD Rest I literally don't have anything to say to them cuz they never were interesting to me. Shadowbringers (2020) was gooooooood shit. And Endwalker (2023) even better. Can't wait to finally go in vacation in Dawntrail :)

Real talk tho, ship whatever game you like. ♥ Also the trend of rise and fall of a game isn't because it sucks but because a new expansion or patch hit and everyone's checking it out xD Especially in ffxiv, Yoshi P always tells people to enjoy other games and live a little. No fomo or intense dailies keep us there 24/7 like other games do. He actively wants us to put FFXIV down and play something else and come back to check out the new stuff and do it all over again :D I love a dev that is also a gamer and knows we all just wanna relax ^^

No.4 in the list is not true. It is only played when new content drops, otherwise it has like less than 3k players playing. And also no one plays together in this game. Warframe is a LOT better than no.4 and no.5 combined.

So many informations are just false. There is no way Star Citizen had 500k of active players. NO WAY. I would be shocked if it was 5k. I tried it 2 times during the FREE week. The servers were pretty empty.

Osrs is overrun with bots, cheaters and scammers. The daily playerbase will be around 50k up to 75k if you exclude all the bots.

Yeah, neah, FF never got me hooked nor WoW. These out of f2p mmorpgs. Around the time I found out about Aion, wasnt f2p, when they finally made it f2p, I didn't had timp nor a PC anymore to play it.

Some of my takeaways here:

* I thought FFXIV was the undisputed top 1 MMO, I was wrong. It's still up there but not always THE top.
* Despite the numerous controversies, WoW is actually still pretty strong. Not as strong as they used to be, but still a top MMO.
* I don't know much about OG Runescape but it's actually that big of a game?
* Path of Exile is a top contender? This is quite the shocker to me.
* Hang in there, Guild Wars 2!

I think this shows a few things. One MMO eat each other playerbase most of the time. Two GW2 is better than alot of people thought. Three WoW and FF have there swing during content so large it keep up with non-mmo games titles some times
