No boost. Just open the master a little more

ОтветитьEXCELLENT.
ОтветитьVery cool I saw this vid I've gone back to using my soulfood and I have all those OD pedals I'm using a Volume pedal in the loop and the buffer in it is pretty killer
PS thanks for showing the pedal control settings up close I would love to see your amps settings up close as well !!
They all sound good to me, but I have a special affinity for the SD-1, having owned a number of them since the 80s. I just know how solid this pedal is. I've also used Tube Screamers, Rats, MXRs, DS-1s, Turbo Overdrives (awful!), and some more modern pedals like the JHS Andy Timmons model and a Friedman BE OD. My issue with the more modern amp in a box pedals, like the JHS and Friedman, is they have too many frequencies that clash with an amp, unless you are boosting a more low gain kind of amp like many Fenders. Otherwise, a pedal like a Tube Screamer or SD-1 can push a dirty amp like a JCM into great hard rock territory. I've used lots of amps, but for the sake of brevity, I've mostly used Marshalls. I started out with a JMP stack and downsized to JCM combos way back in the 80s. Both Marshalls took pedals rather differently because the JCM had a different gain circuit. I opted for the single channel because it sounded better than the dual channel and the extra gain from the dual channel was not that great. But the single channel with a Tube Screamer, DS-1, SD-1 or Rat in front of it could really put on a show. It all depends on what kind of gain you are going for. I prefer a real throwback 70s and 80s kind of tone, not a Recto volcano of gain and sludge, so a good pedal in front of a decent pedal platform does the job for me.
ОтветитьI’ve got the limited edition stealth sc20h and I love it on its own. However, I recently bought a TC, electronics, mojo, mojo and love it.
ОтветитьYou need to try with an MXR super badass modified OD, it’s the king of boosts. What the SD-1w should have been
ОтветитьDid you try to put a clean boost before drives?
ОтветитьI like a lot xotic clean boosters
ОтветитьI love how the kids today say, "it may have been good in the 80s. But not heavy enough for modern metal". We still used boost pedals in the 80s. No different really. Guitars in thrash and speed metal were just as heavy in the 80s. Just had to play harder and make your fingers work. High gain amps today just make it easier and can easily be over saturated.
ОтветитьFortin 33 please.
ОтветитьI thought the Soul Food was rather bland personally, I love the way the Maxon OD808 tightens everything up and agree that with the drive down it is mid focused which is not a bad thing, while the SD-1 was definitely a bit more aggressive and did seem to accentuate the treble, I like both the Base Sound, the OD808 and the SD1 definitely enhanced the base sound equally in my opinion. I'd like to see how they sound when you drive them with about 60% of the drive as well, then you could really hear the difference between the pedals.
ОтветитьHi I ve seen you in another of your vids playing on same amp metal with a black country laney pedal, the white one, does it work the same??
TX
The boss sounds balanced
ОтветитьI would say, judging by the tiny speakers on this iPad, that the boosts’ respective effects are so similar that it makes essentially no difference. This proves that the JCM800 benefits from a boosted guitar signal, and there is no dramatic difference between boosts.
ОтветитьHonestly the raw roaring sound of the 800 sounds best to me dor rhythm, for solo and leads a boost is a must though.
ОтветитьMight get this amp 😮
ОтветитьGreat tones, but heavily processed and multitracked, so not a realistic comparison.
ОтветитьI think this just sold me on a soul food
Ответитьthis riff is so chunky
Ответитьjcm 800 raw bass sound is truley great
Ответитьthe pedals gradually sounded better in the order you had them. The EHX wins
ОтветитьI would listen to the same pedals compared to each other on the Marshall DSL100HR head
ОтветитьWhat about Fuzz and/or Muff pedals into a JCM800? I've been told a Muff works great. I just got a handwired P2P head, JCM800 50W Clone (or "inspired by') from Valvetone here in Australia.
ОтветитьNothing in reference to the playing but why is nearly every pedal demo I watch, played in drop D. It's like the fisher price My First Metal Tuning.
ОтветитьIt's been so crazy watching this channel grow. Kudos to you for putting in the hard work and making great gear content!
ОтветитьBanging vid! nice! JCM!
ОтветитьMaxon fo me
ОтветитьDude, that’s a banger riff, had the head moving.
ОтветитьThe EHX does something to the midrange I like.
ОтветитьAll sounded the same to me
ОтветитьSD1!!!!
ОтветитьBoss sd1❤
ОтветитьMarshall and sd1 ❤
ОтветитьFor my taste… SD-1
ОтветитьGood review. Have wondered about boosting with a Klon clone, this video captures it perfectly. Also the shots of the settings, specifically the amp.
ОтветитьInteresting. I do own both the Maxon and EHX already. Guess it's time to get my hands on a SD-1 as well!
ОтветитьThe absolute best boost for a Marshall is a RAT. Pull the distortion way down, open up the filter and crank the volume and it gives the tightest yet still a little bit spongey response. It’s incredible. Just ask Nuno
ОтветитьAlso mxr micro amp clear boos sounds great with jcm800, pure jcm800 sound without color8ng
ОтветитьThe JCM sounds great with the SD-1. More aggressive.
ОтветитьI think you should have all three. The Tummnus from Wampler is the best Klone clone.
ОтветитьSD-1 for me.
ОтветитьUnboosted works for me.
ОтветитьTs9
ОтветитьSD-1 without question but the others would be ok too.
Ответитьthe soul food is so good it has the volumen at 1 o' clock lol
ОтветитьSD-1 for me. Sounded heavy.
