Oh I Love Sunflower Seeds. Slightly Salted, so good!!
I have always thought if Raccoons come out in daylight, you need to be extra carefull of them as they may be sick???

We live in the woods and get lots of deer. We had a doe that started coming up to our bird feeder and my husband began feeding her corn fromabucket. We'd wake up in the morning, open the drapes and she'd be standing at the window waiting to be fed. For 2 seasons she brought her fawns to visit and get her corn.

Yes the center is the sunflower seeds you wash them and then put them on a cookie sheet and bake them roast them like pumpkin seeds you can put any flavor you want , as well as replant them , put them between paper towels and wet the towels to germinate them , they taste great , and the other plant look like wheat or barley not sure but I am sure about the sunflower Good luck God Bless You And Yours.

Crepe Myrtles are very hardy! You can’t kill them. Little ones will root around the tree. You can transplant easily. They are gorgeous if you trim them properly. Birds love to nest in them.

Yes you can plant the seed next year

You need to let the sunflower seed head dry out for the seeds to mature. You picked them a little early. When the seeds are ripe you can use them as bird food. To dry them wrap twine around the stems and hang them from a rafter on your porch or they will become mouse food. The seeds will come out easily when ripe. Your can crack the hulls open and eat the seeds. They are great on salads or on yogurt. Bird seed mixes usually contain - sunflowers seeds, white millet, niger thistle (can be invasive - pull it before it becomes fluffy), Milo seed, rye or wheat seed. A bird seed with a high percentage of Milo (Sorghum) which is a filler and not good for song birds is a waste of money. They won't eat it. Turkeys, doves, and pheasant will eat it when song birds kick it out of the feeder. Rye and wheat seeds are also fillers and may be listed as grain products. Seed that attracts the most birds is Black Oil Sunflower seed followed by Striped Sunflower seed. I actually use what is called a Fruit and Nut seed blend of peanuts, raisins, and sunflowers. It really attracts the birds here in northern Illinois.

Raccoons are prone to carrying diseases such as rabies and feline distemper. Without treatment, these two diseases can be fatal for your cat. Raccoons can also carry roundworms and give them to your cat. While not always fatal, roundworms are often gross and expensive to get rid of.

We just leave our sunflowers alone and cut them down and leave them lay in the fall. The birds and squirrels will eat the seeds and we still get more plants next season. Your property looks awesome, except for Zoey's neighborhood! But I know you'll have that cleaned up and looking awesome very soon. Take care from Colorado!

I saw some great sunflower varieties. There were shiny purple and black, red as well as yellow.
And all sorts of shapes from a big soft ball to a really huge wide open shape, which are probably the ones you got. ❤

I leave my sunflowers until they are dried. Then they reseed themselves.

I'm jealous. Why are you tossing away the sun flowers they need to finish on the plant. Then soaked and roasted.

According to my plant app. That plant that has tall "hair" is Hordeum Vulgare. It is in the grass family, a grain. I have no idea if it true or not. It is just what the app said. :-)

Take the sunflower seeds and spread them around the yard for the animals to eat. My stepmoms sunflowers would die every year at certain times then bloom again. That skinny plant you showed after the prickly one looks like the weeds that grow all on my front yard
