It was essential that everyone had a business plan. FIRST "box ticked" in every audit. Along with the "Governance manual" (all 3 volumes.)

I read (tried to) read the Governance manual ONCE. Intro page was circular. It said "governance" about 47 times. You needed it, because without it, you didn't have any of it.

I once asked at a pre audit meeting where those two docs were. Everyone laughed, as they were "key/available/everyone knew where." I picked a bloke and asked him where........... he "made an excuse". He hadn't a clue where they were, but everyone "knew we had them/they were essential."

No one at that table had ever seen either document, let alone EVER read them. And they never would.

So I said "Let me get this straight, we MUST have these essential documents, documents that no one here has EVER seen or read?????"

I was deemed a "non team player/ not "big picture"/old fashioned....." and even "disruptive"; and didn't get an invite to the next "do nothing" meeting, even though I was top 3 ranking in a unit of 100 people.

They say "disruptive", wheras I say "quoting reality/the obvious"

Great way to get out of a do nothing meeting, so I could get on with running the unit = just inject some of that annoying "logic/reality" that has no place in govt hierarchy.

This is one of those big spend legacy projects politicians love to waste our money on instead of actual useful infrastructure
