When I was at Provo canyon I would get hit by staff and restrained throwing into a cell at stabilization they call it and locked in there and the staff would get away with it

I taught at one of these horrible places, Hyde School, in Bath, Maine. Had no idea what was going on behind the scenes until recently. Makes me very sad. I was fired because I “just didn’t get the program.”

Discovery Academy in Provo UT did the same thing with a solitary confinement in a little, cold, all white room...they would take your shoes and leave you in there for days with barely any cloths. I didn't realize this could make you not trust anyone as Paris says... thanks Discovery Academy!

Ive known about boarding schools having a history of abuse and neglect since I was little because of my dad. My dad and his 4 brothers lost thier mother to cancer when he was 12. His father couldn't or didn't want to take care of his t boys. The 4 oldest went to a Catholic boarding school the youngest brother when to stay with family since he was to little to be in a boarding school. The nuns at the Catholic school were extremely strict and only provide the basic needs of the children food,shelter,school and religion. Unfortunately the 4 brothers needed more than the simple basics because they were going through alot of emotional problems with the death of thier mother and feeling abandoned by thier father. The brothers started acting out getting into trouble. I'm not sure what the brothers did. But as a punishment the brothers had to clean the large boys bathroom from top to bottom. One of the brothers figured out if you shook a can of Drano and throw it the can of Drano would explode. All the brothers took a can of Drano to shaking and throwing it. They would laugh as the can exploded being typical naughty boys having fun. It was my dad's turn he shook the can of Drano threw it but it never exploded. So he ran down to pick the can back up to shake and throw again soon as he touched the can it exploded in his face. One of the brothers ran to get help the other brothers stayed with my dad as he screamed out in pain covering his face with his hands. The nuns came out brought my dad into the school. The nuns didn't call for help or washed the Drano out of my dad's eyes until 3 hours later. By then it was to late the Drano done it's damage and destroyed my dad's eyes. At age 12 my dad went blind. Sad thing is if the nuns had washed my dads eyes out right away he would of never lost His eye sight. But instead his life and the brothers lives were changed and never the same after that. My uncles lived with the guilt of playing with the Drano that caused my dad's eyes sight. 2 of the brothers became alcoholics and my dad became addicted to pain medications that cause him to loose his life when I was 12 despite everything that happened to my dad and uncles they always made my brother and I knew we were loved.

That’s just sick. A school for troubled teens should be focused on fixing them, not running them psychologically.

I used to work for COPPER HILLS YOUTH CENTER in Utah and they do the same things there. I had to quit because they made allegations about ME! I.E said I had given illegal substances to a minor. I smoke nicotine products and have for years. I DONT smoke around my nieces or nephews, any children ever. Why would I give a minor something I don’t even share with my boyfriend? I’m a GERM FREAK I think sharing things with people you barely know is gross. Not to mention I severely injured my ankle while on the clock, went to the emergency room and used workman’s comp.. CHYC said that they weren’t going to approve the request because my injury wasn’t serious enough (life threatening) and that they weren’t going to pay a dime. I went to work the next day and had to run full speed and put myself in between two girls who were fighting, got punched in the face several times got some gnarly punches to the ribs and other places, and my ankle had gotten dislocated trying to keep both girls safe and separated. Went back to the ER filed workman’s comp and they still said because it wasn’t that serious that they weren’t giving out a dime. To this day (it’s been 6 months since it happened) my ankle has been having issues constant sprains, constant swelling. I have to wear a medical boot to walk and not have any worry about is today the day my ankle is going to snap or not. My life has turned to heck because of them. (They didn’t pay me proper wages when I had to work in quarantine with possible covid exposed minors. (Didn’t have PPE available until late May) 2 months of possible exposure to corona virus 🦠. I COULD HAVE DIED!! But they don’t care they like making minors feel terrible, putting them in dangerous situations with very bad people (lots of sexual assault and predator like males and females that worked there) and don’t mind if employees get injured or end up with a deadly virus.
