In this webinar Simon Burall, a senior associate with Involve in the UK, discusses the practical challenges of running public engagement events. He addresses questions such as who is the public? how do you ‘recruit them? what resources do organisations need? what specialist skills are required to run them? and what happens after the engagement? Simon draws on examples from his experience and also talks about what sorts of effects public engagement work has had on the public themselves and those with formal decision making responsibilities in national and local government.

About On Think Tanks:
On Think Tanks focuses on a range of issues of relevance and interest to think tanks as well as their staff and supporters. We hope that our initiatives and the articles and resources we publish will support think tanks to be more strategic in the ways they make short and long-term decisions; and that this will result in better policy advice and policy outcomes for all.

The OTT School offers a range of capacity building opportunities for policy entrepreneurs, thinktankers, think tanks and policy research centres to develop their personal and organisational competences.
