As a 3d artist myself, my first instinct would be to add a moon that simply looked cinematic. Not one that was accurate to the exact day of the game, especially if the “realistic” moon didn’t look cinematic, and was entirely covered in shadow.

Of course both could be true.

But weather report seems more intentional to me personally.

I’m not positive but I think one of the robots in the slums says that all of the tv shows and movies are all old and just recorded so I’m on team moon

I'm not completely convinced. The clocks in the game have 16 hours rather than the traditional 12. It seems the companions invented their own timekeeping system that's a little different than ours. Did they invent a 16 month calendar perhaps? Or make any other changes to our current method for tracking time?

As a few comments have said, I think Oct 11 is actually the last day humanity kept track of time, mostly because it's written in english and not their language. Still a wonderful video, and if I had to choose I'd say I'm team moon lol

Also they use crt tvs in a lot of things its suprising how many are in the game, like they never abandoned that technolagy.

did nobody realise that the clock had 1 to 16, instead of 1 to 12. in this hypothetical world, a single day has 16 or 32 hours, which completely messes up the calender system

you know there is a note written in the game saying that the humans have gone extinct more than about 7 million years in days right?

I wish to see a sequel of this game as I still play it even if I know it in all details. Playing Stray, a cat, was a great idea from developpers and I hope to play new Stray adventure soon.

I am on Team Moon because unlike the news, it is essentially a freshly taken negative. It CANNOT possibly be wrong. Unlike the weather broadcast. We have no idea how current it is, or even if Monday is the current date, or if it was yesterday's or even tomorrow's weather.

Team Moon is essentially impossible to disprove.

I'm team moon. It's more likely that the weather report is just an old one on repeat.

October 11th? No way! I started playing this game just a few days ago on the 11th, and thought it was in-game thing to match up with the real-time calendar set up on your system! What a huge coincidence for me!😅😂

I'm team "That's not what the calendars show". As I remember it (it's been a while since I played) there are calendars in zurk-infested areas where there are no people, and in the scientist's house, as well as in populated areas, which means one of two things.

1) They're e-ink and change automatically... Except, they don't. The calendars never change, even if you play for longer than a day, since there's only one calendar texture in the game files; or...

2) They've never been updated and are actually unchanged since *the date when humans left*. They aren't evidence of the current date, but that everyone in the city scanned themselves into droids through sarcophagi on the same day... except the scientist, who didn't assemble his bot correctly so its head wasn't connected and fell off, so the scientist's brain was scanned in and held in the buffer awaiting upload for centuries, since Oct 11 on some year. The droids keep the calendars on their walls not to tell the current date, but to commemorate the passing of the humans, and their own creation date.

I wonder if it's correct. Because the analog clock in that world has 1 to 16 instead of 12. Also, somewhere I saw a calendar or a name of month as Sarobuary or something like this. So, it is possible that they do not have 12 months exactly, could be 16, matching the hours...

the vinyl album 2084 is probably a reference to Ayreon.
Ayreon is a vast musical project, 2084 is the year where humans killed each others on Earth, leaving one survivor alone in a base on Mars.
Ayreon uses a lot of binaries, by groups of eight digits. One of his albums is "01011001", which can be found on the vinyl (first row down on the right). It means "Y".

And if you convert the 6 8-digits groups at the bottom of the vinyl, you obtain "AYERON", almost Ayreon, possibly a small mistake here.

Ive been going down this rabbit hole and saw some thing that's might help figure this out. I saw that the robots have 16 hour clocks but why would a robot who has never seen a sun have a clock rotation like we use. They could be counting their days as 16 hour periods

I feel like they put the weather report in there like that but I doubt they planned for the moon to be like that. Also the moon appeared bigger in the game than it does right now which would imply it was moving closer to us, which is false, it's moving away at 5 inches a year. Therefore we would have to take into consideration that something had to mess up earth, or the moons', orbit. Therefore making the judgement by moon impossible. We have to go with the weather channel👍

I love this game. I like the environment and when the cat Explorer at different places and also the story that is giving for everybody. But I have a question. I like the soundtrack that you put not the center from the game. It's the soundtrack that starts 2: 40 on the video and I don't think it's from the game it's like a instrument

My Chartreux Cat, Tommy, passed away on August 9, 2022 (International Cat Day) at the age of 20, of natural causes, as may he forever rest in peace, as I’ve known about Stray, ever since his recent passing (and Jackson Galaxy playing through, when it was brand new, prior to Switch’s release), as this game is like he’s in the game, in spirit, even if he’s moved on, as I can still recall his sweet meows and doglike mannerisms, knowing which meaty treat he likes between chicken, beef, or fish, respectively.

Btw the companions are actually the humans that’s why they cut there hair with no hair it’s their own past life that affects what they do.

Does the theory that the robots themselves may be other humans who had uploaded themselves into a robot body hold any water? It feels plausible because of how humanlike these robots are…

Going with the moon because there’s no way of knowing if the weather report is current or just from ages ago and the TV is stuck like that, I doubt if the zurks took over they’d still be focusing on weather reports, so it’s probably glitched because it’s from hundreds of years ago, the moon is legit
