I washed mine good, seasoned it while it was warm enough to melt the crisco then left in a preheated oven at 375 for an hour upside down and it's got a bunch of blotchy sticky spots
ОтветитьThank You for this!!!! 🖤
ОтветитьThanks again Kent,
yes, am trying to do things the right way but your tip about preheating
the cast iron was a nice tip I haven't considered 'til now - take care pal!
Right on! When I first started using cast iron I made the same mistake of over oiling. Thanks for the great video and the funny stuff.👍🏻👍🏻 I subbed, looks like great recipes and more.
ОтветитьThanks for this video. I have had two cast iron skillets collecting dust for over 3+ years. Is peanut oil okay to use? Is it okay to not wash immediately after cooking?
ОтветитьBest video I’ve come across 🙌🏼🙌🏼
ОтветитьRhymes good enough.
ОтветитьI would heat the pan and wash out with Crisco and course sea salt. I wold do it 2-3 time and rence with hot water between wash outs. Then put on stove heat up to dry out and cook some bacon in the pan.
ОтветитьI needed this.
ОтветитьWhat if you just got a cast iron skillet and your boyfriend used it for the first time on a camper stove oven in the camper and just the bottom of it is sticky. He never use oil or nothing in it. He just cooked potatoes in it.
ОтветитьAs soon as I heard that country draw I knew I was in good hands
ОтветитьI certainly wouldn’t use seed or nut oil! Beef tallow/lard is best. Olive oil breaks down and loses its integrity and even be one’s toxic at high temperatures
ОтветитьHe is a good man.
ОтветитьThanks for taking care of cast iron. I just bought a brand new unseasoned cast iron dutch oven. Now I know how to take care of it. Thanks again Cowboy!
Yippee ky ahh!!
Damn might have to use a shirt my rags be tearing off
ОтветитьThank you I figured I seasoned too much on top it was too hot to were it burned the oil so now I'm factory reseting it in the oven to get that gunck off
ОтветитьThank you!
ОтветитьHi Kent!! Ever use peanut oil? I’ve been using it a while now. Thoughts?
ОтветитьI found a cast iron Cracker Barrel gridle, made by Lodge I'm sure. Never knew I had it, found it in my storage, and it's "tacky" sticky. Never had to deal with this until now, like dried vegetable oil. Gonna get that thing cleaned and seasoned for this summer using this method. If my Grandpa was alive, he'd set it in a camp fire and burn every bit off and start over😮.
ОтветитьThanks Kent, I just seasoned mine with too much oil and it was sticky. So I watched this video and put it in the oven again for another hour and it was less sticky but not great. Luckily I always have some salt and scrap leather around…Thank you, Kent. I tried cooking with cast iron years ago with a cheap pre seasoned skillet from princess auto. It was horrible. I did not see what the attraction was except for a durable skillet. But my father in law cooked everything in cast iron when we went camping with him last summer and it has drawn me in again. I still have that same skillet and I just started over with it using the video where you sanded the cooking surface a little. Thanks to your videos the learning process is easy and fun! You seem to have every answer to every question in a straightforward, easy to follow, and FUN way, which has given me the courage to try it again 😂 I sure appreciate it.
ОтветитьThanks for your help, I will try it.
ОтветитьCan you help with a cast iron skillet that's really sticky and gunky with burnt on grease especially the sides and bottom. This is a great video and I learned a lot. Thanks for sharing!
ОтветитьDo you season in the oven?
Is stovetop better?
That was the best “passage of time montage” EVER!!!! 😂
ОтветитьI love your methods. My grandfather lived in his chuck wagon. I have his cast iron. So I'm guessing it's well over 100 years old, and it's in great condition. But it definitely needs cleaning and re-seasoning. These are the best collection of videos I have found.
ОтветитьWhat green rag was that? I need something that is lint free. I've been using a bandana but I feel like there's a better choice like what he used. Anyone have a clue?
ОтветитьOMGoodness that was hilarious and exactly the info I needed. Bought a 1930s Griswold dutch oven with exactly this problem. You sure got my sub with this one. Thank you!
ОтветитьDon't need a non stick frying pan if you know how to treat your skillet
ОтветитьCan you boil things on enameled cast iron?
ОтветитьOld School vids by the veterans are the best. I subscribed as I like you.
ОтветитьGodddayyyaaammmm! Lovving yo vid boi xx😊
ОтветитьSo.... do you put it in the oven afterward? I've seen like 3 seasoning videos and they are all different. I tried the first time (used too much oil) and literally couldn't get the egg residue out until I used a wire grill brush.
ОтветитьStraight to the point and very helpful. Thank you Mr Rollins.
ОтветитьVery helpful! Thank you!
ОтветитьI got a raw cast iron Dutch oven and tried to season with a small amount of avocado oil at 450 and it smoked my house out in 5 min. I let it cool and started over at 350 degrees and same thing. I tried a third time at 300 degrees and while the smoke is less it’s still awful and smells like burned oil. Now it’s tacky and can’t be used. I’m about to throw it away.
ОтветитьExcellent video! Great tips
ОтветитьTHANK YOU❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
ОтветитьAhh!! You're the best!! Great information, great presentation, great attitude. As Tony the tiger would say, Your Greeeeat!!
ОтветитьLove to see you review some newer cast iron pieces you haven’t reviewed like Lancaster or Marquette
ОтветитьHow do you store the oily rag after use?
ОтветитьI hated my cast iron, but since this I watched this video 2 years ago I haven't had any issues and love my skillet.
ОтветитьDamn I just seasoned mine and I started with a cold pan ugh
ОтветитьThank you so much I just got my cast iron from my mom for my birthday and I tried to season it but it came out sticky I didn't know to heat the pan first before seasoning it the paper that came with it said to season with oil and bake it upside down for a hour you helped me fix something that I thought I had done ruined
ОтветитьI wish I saw this before I seasoned my cast iron… I just got a griddle and the flat side is fine for the most part but the other side with the griddle marks… I put a little too much oil and now parts of that side is sticky
ОтветитьHe says “stick” around lol, I’m trying to remove the sticky, not have it hang around. Great videos & recipes
ОтветитьWhen a little is enough, more is not better.
Ответить😂 Made me laugh while brushing your teeth. Another great helpful video!! Thanks
