See, in Kenya ( I am Kenyan of course), the only fat people you will see, with pot bellies and off BMI are those living in cities and big towns. Back in the countryside, you will struggle to find fat people, and this is not only restricted to RIFT VALLEY (the land of marathoners) but across the country. The overriding reason is that most people in rural areas mostly eat ugali. And, most people love organic vegetables (managu, kunde, mchicha, saga, etc.......I don't know the English names for such). You can imagine living off organic food, with beef/chevon twice or thrice a month on the upper end. Then most Kenyans are largely outdoor people, living simple community lives. I believe that our ways of life mostly contribute to our success.

One thing that I have observed with westerners is that they use technique in everything they do. That limits them from tapping into their full potential. With African Countries like kenya they are driven with pure passion and patriotism for their country.

It sure must be great competing in a sport knowing that no matter how hard you train that you will always lose to a Kenyan.

I have lived in America for 19 years, and I tell ya miss Kenya. I will go back to Kenya because I like the simple life there.
