Interessante Video 👍🏻
ОтветитьEach SS.Rgt. 'Landstorm Nederland' consisted of one heavy Coy. with 6x 3.7cm PAK and 3 bicycle (2+3 2cm) mortar teams.
ОтветитьHi, kun je mij meer vertellen over de cufftitle 'De Ruiter'? Was dit een Nederlandse eenheid in de SS of gemaakt voor een persoon?
Leuke video's btw.
Omg never know about Bernard that he wanted to kill 100 people, also thought he was ss during te war
ОтветитьYour English videos are much quicker good jop
ОтветитьVery interesting, my grandfather was an NSBer then joined the WSS who moved to Germany after the wars end and then to South Africa. :D I was 5 years in the SADF in the 1980s upto to 1992 (South African Army Inteligence). As you said lots of old NSBers moved to Germany first, I met a few through my grandfather in SA, VL, NL & Germany. :)
ОтветитьThank you
ОтветитьMeanwhile we Canadians thought we were liberating you from the nazis.... huh 🤔
ОтветитьОгромное спасибо !!!!! Bedankt voor Uw werk!
ОтветитьI have a Landsturm tagged Husqvarna revolver in I believe 7.62 x 25.
ОтветитьStefan have you covered Denmark contribution to the SS
ОтветитьI actually know auke pattists daughter personally, I call her aunty. She is one of my mothers closest friends.
ОтветитьThey're all a bunch of traders to Holland like the Belgian traders and the French traders they should have all been stood against the wall and shot without exception. They all helped and took part in the holocaust as well.
ОтветитьBernard wanted allies executed? I did see a shocking vid of him and juliana flying the nazi flag on their boat prewar years. A very very suspicious character, also what he was doing in Africa. The day he died was a good day.
ОтветитьI was wondering how Nederland punished their collaborators (NSB, Waffen SS, OT, NSKK, DRK,...) maybe you already have a video about this. I would like to see or know the difference between "de repressie" in Belgium and the Netherlands
ОтветитьWait. Wait wait wait. The republic of Germany honored nazi policy promises after the war? What! Why? That is insane.
ОтветитьThe nazis were pretty permissive if they let you choose your deployment lol guessing that was only the case for foreign volunteers.
ОтветитьAs you say the quality of the Landstorm varied. Elements of the Landstorm are reported as fighting the Canadians in March/April 1945 and a some even held out for a few days after the war ended
ОтветитьThese Nazi Dutch were the ones who came to rule Holland after Allied victory over Nazi Germany. Even the Dutch monarchy was with the Nazis. The Dutch queen married a Nazi German.
ОтветитьThanks for the video, I lived in Hasselt for over 40 years and never knew there was a Dutch vs Dutch battle there.
ОтветитьThe Dutch record is pretty decent but yeah some Dutch like Norwegians, Danes, etc really shat the bed. I've always wondered by the way about those few who eagerly served and ended up dead in Stalingrad or some hellhole like that. The mind boggles at the thought.
ОтветитьEigenlijk was het aantal Nederlandse Waffen Ss geschat op 100.000 man. Cijfers te vinden bij "Les SS, TROUPES D ELITE bij Laffont."
ОтветитьWhy did the German gave this men German citizenship they should gave this men back to face justice.
ОтветитьGreetings from here in the UK. My father served with the free Dutch forces based in England during WW2 in the Princess Irene Brigade. My father was born in London and my grandparents were Dutch immigrants to the USA and lived in Detroit in Michigan. When Germany invaded Holland my father went to Canada to enlist in the free Dutch forces and was sent to Willenhall near Wolverhampton in England and became a mechanised driver with the Princess Irene Brigade were they were based. My father went to Normandy in the 3rd wave after D Day with the regiment along with Canadian forces and fought through Europe to liberate Holland. The Princess Irene Brigade was the first Dutch unit in.
My father remained with the Brigade after WW2 and was posted back to England and ended his service in London in 1953 and settled in Lytham St Anne's in Lancashire with my mother and my elder brother. My mother served in the Women's Auxiliary Air Force in WW2 and she married my father in 1942 in Wolverhampton. There is a cemetery in Wolverhampton which has many soldiers of the Princess Irene Brigade buried there and every year on 10th November a full military remembrance service is held there with representatives of the regiment coming over from Holland present as well as members of the Royal Air Force and British Army. I went to one of the remembrance parades in 2016 and my father's commanding officer from the Princess Irene Brigade was present. I have a photo of myself with two officers from the present day Brigade which is now a guards regiment in the Royal Netherlands Army. I am former Royal Air Force but also served in the Royal Navy and British Army.
Thank you for posting this very interesting video and I have subscribed to your channel.
as soon as you said 'some of them didn't want to go to the front, however, the front came to them' you gotta like from me, i know it is serious stuff but i can understand the impossible choices facing people back then
ОтветитьAgain a great video! Holland is almost never mentioned in Hollywood movies about WW2,and its role in WW2 is similarly overlooked here in the U.S. (and I expect elsewhere) generally. I'm also a collector of military miniatures ("toy soldiers") and I can assure you that the Dutch army in WW2 is simply NOT available from any company as far as I know; it's as if they never existed (and this despite the fact that the toy soldier business is currently enjoying an explosive boom period globally). Keep up the good work---Hou Zee!
ОтветитьSorry, but as a native Polish woman, I can't sympathize with those Dutch who fighted for Hitler.
ОтветитьAh yes Dutch fighting Dutch. Same faith as Estonians, Latvians etc
ОтветитьI'd be very interested in a Dutch perspective on Bernhardt.
ОтветитьAdmirable honesty in communicating history is always to be admired,no one can find it easy to point out the crimes of their own countrymen.
ОтветитьTotal chaos I thought European are high class but that was just a lie.
ОтветитьIk wist niet dat er een Nederlandse ss groep was (fuile land veraders waren dat)
ОтветитьI don't know where you found that members of the 'Landstorm Nederland' served as guards in Kamp Erika in Ommen, but this wasn't the case; I'm sorry.
The other way around is more likely; men that served as guards in the Kontroll Kommando in Ommen, went on to serve in the SS-Wachbataillon 'Nordwest' (or later, the SS-Wachbataillon 3). The remnants of the Wachbatallion would become part of the 'Landstorm Nederland' during the later stages of the war, and performed terribly (for example at Arnhem) from a military standpoint. By this time, Kamp Erika was under the control of the Ordnungspolizei.
Bikker was a member of the original Kontroll Kommando and later of the Wachgruppe Ommen. It was in this capacity that he 'earned' his nickname. His military career in the Waffen SS was short-lived (there are clues that he made it up) and was way before his time as a guard in Ommen. His case isn't probably the best example, but it shows how former Waffen SS men ended up in the repressive camp-system, but also how former camp-guards ended up as front line soldiers in the Waffen SS.
It is true that members of 'Landstorm Nederland' served as an ad-hoc 'police unit', 'fighting' the resistance behind the front line. This late war drama took place in the northern provinces.
Keep up the good work with the informational video's!
Can’t understand you
ОтветитьWill you be doing a video on italian volunteers?
ОтветитьDavid, highly interesting content, and I am wondering if you ever heard of your countryman, Albert Folens? He is renowned for alleged gestapo affiliation and escaping justice after the war and subsequently given harbor in the Rep Ireland (much like many other wanted Nazi war criminals). To compound the state connivance, he was actually bestowed the Irish state school curriculum publishing rights, no less!! So, you can imagine the school history book lean, no doubt.
Ответить👍🏻🇳🇱
ОтветитьWe need a video about the Georgien legion.
ОтветитьPlease do make a well researched video on Prins Bernhard,
He makes for interesting history material..
That interview with Pattist makes my blood boil.
ОтветитьReally nice channel, I'll have to work my way through it all.
ОтветитьTraitors to Holland. Kill all of the traitors. I mean at least they didn't do war crimes in Russia. But they still should of fought for the allies.
ОтветитьGood job again Stefan, always interesting to learn about these less known formations.
ОтветитьJe kaart klopt niet, Noord-Ierland ligt aan het Noord-westen van Groot Brottanië ;o)
ОтветитьGreat episode as always history hustle ✌🏻
ОтветитьAnother great video, thank you 👍
ОтветитьWow, i never knew SS-men could go back to Germany. This is abhorrent.
