Why don't they start by using the hips or kneck as the main sensor? Something which stays fixed centrally.

Then make it so that the system will recognise the moment the central sensor moves off center, and the associated foot sensor moving away from center. Only when both happen at the same time the belts will move in absolute inverse relation with the movement of the primary foot sensor. At the point of which the motors are activated, they're essentially locked in position with the lead foot. Wherever the foot goes the motors run opposite at exactly the same time speed.

elon musks brain chip thing would be perfect for this. it can tell the treadmill which way you want to walk before you know

They need shoes or something that track your position and sensors on every inch of that treadmill.

to make a prototype of one of these would've been so groundbreaking. now it's actually there, and the refined version of this has already been popularised in Ready Player One (awesome movie for Gen X'ers btw), it's just a matter of diligent refinement of the system to make it butter-smooth like in the movie. it's now 2023, I'd love to see how far this emerging tech has come.

Creio que o corpo deveria ficar suspenso, e ao invés de joystick usar luvas e sensores nas articulações dos braços e pernas, também seria legal substituir as lentes comuns por um painel ocular mais expansivo.

It seems like it would be more realistic for a user to be forced to remain center by using a device like a ring or tether, which keeps the user centered while allowing the strength of the users legs to move the treadmill. This would cause the feedback loop to be more realistic because the user is literally walking/running and the computer intelligence would be driven by the direction of the user. The tether would be a belt with an omnidirectional ring allowed to go around with ball bearings or some-such so the tether would not impede the user's ability to move in a 360 degree motion. It would seem to me that this would be easier to code, manage, and be more realistic for the user. Moreover, you could use sensors in the belt to determine a cardinal direction if that were necessary. I'm curious about thoughts.

The treadmill is a metaphor for a lot of people’s life! Constantly Busy appearing to always be doing something or going somewhere. Yet they never improve their life!

so it can move fast enough to knock you off your feet. that could be used with a harness to prevent an injury if you were playing a game that would knock you off your feet on purpose to simulate a slip, fall, or jump, or even falling like using a parachute

@lilphilvlogs372 - 01.09.2023 20:56

this could easily be solved by using the catwalk vr omnidirectional treadmill. you literly just use a harness to keep you in the same spot but in can move 360. instead of having a computer try to center you. so much more work than it needs to be.

simple fix, a mechanical device used breaking is needed, this can be solve by simple machines. attached to your body, wherever the part that feels you comfortable.

Pressure sensors on the treadmill for the feet with an algorithm that tells the computer to ignore the rollers as the treadmill wraps underneath will speed up the deceleration of the treadmill. You may pay me later.

I think it could benefit from pressure sensitive shoe soles, and/or pressure sensitive padding to determine direction of acceleration at the point of contact. Sure eliminate most of the lag.
