What happened to the trains headlights why is there a hole in it and why is the number plate and the windows broken?

The equivalent over here would be if a train smashed into a station like London Euston, where the tracks are seperated from the main hall and ripped through the ticket barriers, passenger ramps and the shops and restaurants in the ticket hall.
