Hey Scotty the 03 Pilot transmission is a known issue; most replaced around 160-200K. I guess we are all wrong here and there. Love your vids and info. I love my 03 but trans slipping when cold start and I’ve flushed and replaced fluid many times 😢.

i rather drive an unreliable car that handles, brake, has some power and fuel efficiency than killing myself on the first crash or getting on the roof upside down while trying to avoid a crash, asian suvs are just dangerous garbage that drives like a shitty pickup truck, reliability is useless when ur dead lol

A cheap SUV that's simple and rugged is Lads Niva and even Dacia. They are as basic as you can buy and you can probably service them at home and they run in minus 30c. They are probably far more basic and reliable than BMW etc and even small Suzuki Vitara and small Suzuki's really take a beating and the Suzuki Maruti 800cc vans go on and on in the Himalayan foothills and are so battered used as taxis and they're Indian built! Even Mahindra jeeps that are diesel and based on old American army jeeps are used as people carriers with 12 or more passengers hanging on anywhere they can with shopping going around near the western Nepalese borders.

Japanese precision, quality control, design is built to be reliable and last and be not over complex. The electrics are the best in the world without any doubt and those old mitsubishi SUV are built like tanks and are cheap secondhand. My cousin who was a Yamaha dealer is mad on mechanics and he bought an old mitsubishi of 20 years old. Built like a tank and similar in size to a Range rover but far far more reliable, better engine and gearbox . Cost him less than $250 USD.

my uncle used to have a 4runner he got it from his mom who had it for a while he ended up having it till it reached half a million miles 500,000 before it started smoking and etc there was lots of problems so he chose to scrap it it was like a 95' my aunt currently drives a 06 honda pilot it still run good just the transmission just now went out

Yes but in the UK we have roundabouts narrow roads Cambers pot holes sleeping policemen when you talk about 300,000 miles quite a few cars wouldn't make it here a lot of your roads are motorway or good B roads and straight running we a lot of crap .

Had a 2006 Honda Pilot EXL with 205 K miles. Have to trade to another Honda Pilot (2015) because it needs a new transmission. It’s not worth replacing it with either refurbished (5K) or brand new (8K).

I had a 2010 dodge journey until Feb 2023. It had 166000km and everything just started dieing and decided that was enough. Front stabilizer bar was going, a rear toe link broke completely (that was a fun experience) and there was something with the engine that was going and was preventing me from going more than 80kms/hr.

ABS is for people that don't know how to brake

4x4 or nothing. 4wd has saved me many times

I bought a used Volvo suv a few years ago with 60 km remaining on the warranty for 1/3 rd of the cost of new. I never thought I would be so happy. I don’t ever want to drive anything else. Best car I have ever owned. It has paid for itself at least three times over.

In the winter in my paved drive I can’t get out of my driveway in the ice or snow if I don’t have a 4wd. It’s only a few weeks per year, but I was stranded for that time when I didn’t have a 4wd.

I have 269k .miles on my 2006 4Runner. It runs great. I have changed the oil every 5k Mike's and it has been super reliable! I will drive it along as it will go. Great vehicle!! ❤❤❤
