I'm not telling you to go do this but what I am telling you is there's other ways to disable that auto start-stop... you can research the system now I'm not going to answer a bunch of questions on this because you get a bunch of know-it-alls on the internet they want to argue with you so you'll have to do your own research
ОтветитьWhen you consider the fact that the vehicle is worth ZERO, with the stop / start technology in place, you can understand why people explore various methods of eliminating it. You can have the evil stop start technology permanently disabled. But you MUST do it as a condition of sale at the time you buy. The dealer can easily program this feature off. They do this for most government vehicles and police departments. If your dealer won't do it, go to another dealer. Engine Stop Start technology was developed for the SOLE purpose of improving the EPA, MPG number during their NON-REALISTIC test. In the real world it does virtually nothing to save fuel, but it DOES wear out your engine faster. Nothing is harder on a car engine than when you start it. There are several aftermarket kits that can defeat Engine Stop Start technology. Forced Lighting (Daytime Running Lights that cannot be controlled by the driver) is another common thing that people get rid of. Unless, you have a Toyota, which has "DRL off" right on the light switch.
ОтветитьThe problem with fooling the BMS is that a lot of other functions as well as the auto start stop will also be disabled. The BMS will shut down systems because it thinks it needs to save power. Listening to the radio while stopped is one. Also, there is no need for dealer service to reset the BMS. It is in the owner's manuals.
ОтветитьToo much talking- get to the point
Ответитьi hate the auto start stop, wont buy any car with it. Very very bad and annoying.
ОтветитьA quick question if I may, I have a 2020 f-150 xlt with the 3.5 ecoboost engine and I’ve heard a lot of bad things about this engine instead of repairing it will a 3.7 ecoboost fit my truck? And when can I expect something to go wrong? Thanks
ОтветитьForaxan 17 bucks a year😊
ОтветитьSo there’s a button you can press after each engine start to diss able the auto stop start. If you had a robot that could press the button for you every time you start the engine- that would solve the problem. But if that works , what if the robot never let go of the button? So I jammed a toothpick between the pressed button and it’s bezel so the button is always stuck pressed down. I did that 4 years ago in my Kia soul and the problem is solved with no discernible damage. Try it
ОтветитьThe only way to disable auto stop is to program your brain so as to turn it off with your finger and is free.
ОтветитьI understood that when the battery state of charge (SOC) falls below a certain percentage, it'll disable the auto start/stop function. I also understand that if the PCM thinks the battery SOC is below lets say 80%, when you replace that battery with a brand new one and refuse to reset the battery monitoring system, the alternator will continue to only charge the battery to 80%. Thus, your new battery will fail relatively quickly since it'll never get fully charged. Using forscan to update your new battery info, reset your BMS, and disable the auto start/stop function is likely the best option imo
ОтветитьI just made it a habit to push the "auto stall" disable switch whenever I get in the truck. Do it every time and after a bit it's so automatic you don't even realize you are doing it.
ОтветитьHas anyone tried and confirmed this?
ОтветитьHi Rich, question, a weird one! my 2023 F150 has on its window sticker auto start and stop deleted, what does that mean? can I enable it with Ford scan? or the hardware is removed? if you could explain, or better off leaving as is? thank you
ОтветитьSpot on as usual sir.
ОтветитьI can't stand how aggressive Auto S/S is. The vehicle barely rocks back after a dead stop and the engine cuts out. All that's doing is encouraging "California stops". The damn thing needs to take a deep breath and wait a few seconds. At least Ford has a button to turn that nonsense on and off. My roommate doesn't even have the option on his Chevy Equinox.
Ответитьits amazing these manufacturers are telling customers what they are going to buy, not what the customer wants to buy. and the costs keep going up and up.
ОтветитьI hope I come back around to this and fully understand it, because I'm not sure I understand it,
Ответитьi live in the deep south the car heats up every time the engine stops. I have also live in the Cold north you can not convince me that the auto stop start is not dangerous,
Ответитьi found an inline piggy back module that connects to the start stop button for $10. Defaults to off on key cycle now and doesnt throw codes and works if i want it to. Ali-express.
ОтветитьOr instead of letting the battery get low you can just edit 2 lines in forscan and never worry about it again. The most common method makes the pscm think the wheel is always being turned. Of course I'd already spent the money on the adapter because I added the cruise control switches to my '21 XL. The adapter is only what like $50? Forscan is free, and it gives you a LOT of utility
ОтветитьTelling the truth....gee whats that all about.....NICE...THANK YOU
ОтветитьYou're perfectly right about that 💯
ОтветитьRich, this is one of the things I love about your channel, bud. You let people know things about their vehicles that is important and can save them money and time.
Ответитьmy 22 Bronco has a button you push and it shuts off. doesnt cost a penny, you just have do it when you start the car. No big deal.
ОтветитьWorst invention on the planet! 👎 It's good that with some manufacturers you can disable it. I refuse to own a vehicle that has this feature.
ОтветитьMy '72 Pinto has stop-start technology when the choke sticks.
Ответить2018 Ford Escape Titanium. Can you tell me what the red flashing "I" means? It is in center of IP between the two pods. When I open the door to get in, and just before I start the car it goes out.
ОтветитьIve a 2016 ford focus and since weve had a battery change the radio is on n off on n off all the time can i correct this issue please?
ОтветитьThat didn't work for me. I left my lights on overnight and couple of times and drained the battery. The auto start/stop feature stopped working for awhile but as soon as I installed the new battery it went right back to working.
ОтветитьThanak for the video. Auto start/stop technology is a scam to sell more starters.....am I wrong? Lol
Ответитьha! that is a fantastic work around thanks
ОтветитьMy 2017 Ford Escape has a button (near ac controls) to enable/disable auto start/stop. Isn't this available on all Ford vehicles or people just don't know about it? Why it is such a big issue?
ОтветитьJust found this from your comment in the other video, not as easy as just unpluging a connector but seems like it's the better way to go about it. So I just need to find a battery that's almost dead, connect it and start the vehicle several times with it and then I should be good indefinitely do not have to deal with that feature anymore?
ОтветитьSo the connector under the steering column everyone speaks about. Heard it is associated with a trailer as well. I have 2016 f150. Do you know which wire I can disconnect from that harness under the column. I saw a comment you mentioned disconnecting it instead of the entire harness
ОтветитьOk this is golden! How about answer this, why do I have a small pond in my driver’s side floor board after a long rain…😂🤦♂️
ОтветитьCut me
ОтветитьAll I have to do is press a button on the centre console of my Puma to disable auto stop/start. Either that or change the driving mode. Never realized it was an issue for some Ford owners.
ОтветитьI don’t get all the hate for the start/stop? If I’m driving and I don’t want it on, I hit the button on the dash. Are people really that lazy? And why are we complaining about something that keeps us from sitting at a stop light burning 4 dollar a gallon gas? Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t get.
ОтветитьFriend has a suburu with that auto start/stop no way I'll never buy a vehicle with that BS!
ОтветитьI stall on auto start stop -- restart leaving me stranded often at stop lights
ОтветитьI hate auto start/stop with a passion. I bought a Bluetooth adapter to use with Forscan. Turn that off was the first thing I did. I like to tinker with forscan and all the settings, so that is why I bought the OBDII adapter. In my 2017 3.5EB and 2wd, I added downhill decent control without buying 4wd and FX4 package. Bought the $14 button and Forscan to change the values. It works great as I tried it in my driveway. More than likely to never use it again lol.
ОтветитьRich just brings facts and money saving advice to the Ford driving public. Excellent advice that will possibly work with other brands.
Ответить🤯
ОтветитьI can tell you needed to get that off your chest and I’m glad you did . We’ve all been treated unjustly(unkindly) at some point in our lives, but remember, if you are a “country boy” at heart regardless of where you live…… well then you will always survive !
ОтветитьAnd if the battery is low on charge from setting--the ASS will also be disabled.Until the battery gains a full charge. With a full charge--the ASS will start working again.I can judge the state of charge of my 5 year old battery by if the Auto Start Stop is working or not. Could you make a video of Ford's Regenerative Charging System? As on the 2.0 EcoBoost? It blew my mind when trouble shooting with a volt meter.
ОтветитьWhy not turn it off on dashboard.
Ответитьinteresting
ОтветитьGuys, there is a function in the Ford dash setup that lets you disable Auto Start-Stop.
