I'd put a couple of diodes in series, or a variable resistor. Good point about the capacitor; have had several projects that will only run with a decent cap across.

Well, it's now working with that first solar panel.

Were you not going to try swapping the barrels around and putting the hand cranked barrel in this one?
Then again, you could always stick an electric motor in the other one. 😁👍👍
