I’m a teacher. I have all kinds of extra paper and composition books laying around…
But if I didn’t, I’d probably get one of these.
it looks nice, but it's not worthy 40+ euros/dolars...
ОтветитьThis sounds alot like you're mixing bullet journaling and Zetterkasten to create an incredible Worldbook. This is an amazing idea! I've had my Bullet Journal for like 2 years and never thought about doing this. Have you used something like Anytype or Obsidian like this?
ОтветитьYou had me at, "Makes me feel like a wizard."
Ответить“…because you’re in the UK or in the European Union…”
Thanks, Ben for reminding me that my idiot countrymen voted to leave 😂
Hey Ben great video! I love the part about feeling like a wizard! I do enjoy the leuchterm... lachtome... those notebooks too! My only issue is that when I'm taking notes not everything is permanent, I also get hung up on feeling like I don't want to write in them all sloppy. So, I have a few of the smaller ones, all empty collecting dust, so in a different way like a wizard tome.
ОтветитьIts just an empty notebook?
ОтветитьThanks for the review. I might get one but oh boy they're expensive in the US. Almost halfprice in France
ОтветитьOf course the German notebook uses German standards for paper instead of US standards.
It's a sign! Come join the enlightenment that is A-sized paper!
It looks great, but so damned expensive though.
ОтветитьI love leuchtturm's notebooks. I've had a pocket version of this one for years that I used as a character's combination spellbook/stat tracker/inventory, essentially the entire character in a book. Didn't know they made such a huge one
ОтветитьREAL players show up to the table with the back to school sale notebooks with kittens on the cover. 50 cents each.
ОтветитьI use a digest sized version of this with grid paper. I got it from office depot or somesuch. I think it was like $7 or $8. I also have a leather padfolio that was given out by a distributor. It really hits the mark. Pockets, lays flat, and is slotted to take a legal pad format tge capacity would probably be 200 pages or so.
Ответитьwas just thinking about making out a Knave world with a Hex map, the table of Contents and paginations + size might, AND 2 RIBBONS might have sold me! Super cool! thanks for sharing.
ОтветитьRad. This is perfect. May I post a link for folks in the UK that's less expensive and avoids giving money to Amazon?
ОтветитьThanks Ben, looks pretty handy.
ОтветитьBe careful. It seems like some of the LEUCHTTURM1917 product line, to include some of the A4+ line, are no longer completely made in Germany (the paper itself may still be manufactured in Germany). Been reading more recent reviews with people noting the change - after they bought their journals. Still, looks like a great book. I've been using a cheaper ($7, 40 page, A4, stapled, soft cover) Ecoqua book that's by Fabriano (I don't like their bound books, but the stapled version is great). All made in Italy (if that floats your boat). :) I started banding a couple of them together like a giant Traveler's notebook.
ОтветитьThis is really awesome. Truly like a GM dream item.
For me, I have my pre-written GM notes on a tablet, and we do theater of the mind combat, so I just use spiral notebooks for my in-session note taking. But if something like this would certainly be nice to have.
I found this brand of notebook good for all the features it has, but they have not been good for fountain pens. No problem if taking notes in pencil as I tend to for my games.
ОтветитьI bought the slim one. Thank you for the recommendation.
ОтветитьI love leuchtturm notebooks. They make Moleskine seem cheap and tawdry. I have a little one that I had at the gaming table on Saturday to capture notes as a TTRPG player.
ОтветитьThis is what I’ve been looking for!
ОтветитьPAGE shoutout!!! Love it.
ОтветитьThe page numbers sold me 🙌
ОтветитьFunny, ive been using Leuchtturm notebooks forever, a variety of sizes. I keep a pocket notebook with me everywhere. But just last night i was thinking of getting a three ring binder for DMing because im tired of taping pages in when I restock. I dont know, i love the feel of a good notebook...
ОтветитьThis is one of the notebooks I used to use but then I went to Rocketbook and haven't looked back...they have all the similar features mentioned here only you can snap to download and send directly to the cloud, erase and reuse over and over. Not having to keep taking up space with more and more notebooks has been a nicety when moving around a lot and the convenience of auto organizing notes for campaigns digitally is super handy.
ОтветитьI have been familiar with dot note books for ages from architecture school, the space between dots would make it very easy to sketch at scale, 1 space for 1m 1:200, 2 space for 1m 1:100 etc
ОтветитьI was using the leuctruim 5x8 size dot grid for my dnd while overseas without all my "stuff"..they are fanatsic notebooks...been using them for years...bettwr than Moleskine...just never thiught to to get the bigger one.
And i bekiev it is pronounced "loishturim" acciridng to a german friend of mine.
Oh man, Leuchtturm notebooks are so good! Use them for journalling and notes but I wasn't aware of the big model.
ОтветитьDo any countries outside of North America use Letter size paper?
ОтветитьThis is what I've been using for about 4 years, can confirm they are amazing and I've only filled it by about 1/4
Ответить$40?!?!?!
ОтветитьI use a Moleskine hard cover for all my ttrpg games. Love it. Can get more at my local art store, i still feel like a wizard, not too expensive and works great with foubtain pens. Dot paper is awesome. I use plain paper so i can write as small as i like, but i keep a notebook of dotpaper around because its so useful.
ОтветитьI just bought a nice notebook for the hex crawl I’m working on, but now I want this one 😂
ОтветитьThanks for the review - I’ll give it a whirl!
ОтветитьThe Leuchtturm1917 make such good notebooks. I have used the A5 size for most of my notes and bullet journals for years.
I picked up the A5 to give it a try. It does feel a lot like a tome. I used it most recently as a player in Call of Cthulhu games and it came in very handy.
I recommend using the table or contents in a non-linear fashion. Don't skip pages to save room for future notes on a particular topic. Ex. Notes on Town X 1-5, 10, 21.
It allows you to use the whole book and not leave gaps with empty pages.
I love Questing Beast discovering how great dot-grid Leuchtturm notebooks are. There are more fantastic notebooks out there for you to discover, and hey maybe you will even try out using a fountain pen. Mixing my two hobbies together.
ОтветитьI placed an order on their website, but I had to handwrite my state of AP in the address, so I don't believe thats why they haven't shipped it yet.
ОтветитьThese work great with fountain pens. I need to upgrade to this size for my next campaign.
ОтветитьDefinitely putting this on my list.
ОтветитьI picked this up. It is great. Videos like this will unironically be hard hitting must click content. Caveat being don't make it unless the item is really top tier. A review of a middling adventure is OK, because I could be deciding about it. A middling office supply option I don't know about isn't one I need to know about.
Can I suggest the LUXEORIA Tree Of Life Leather Journal? They are cost efficient and so far not prone to falling apart. It is great as the physical rules book "spell book" for when you are using spells or a magic system that works well as natural language. Especially if you could get players to fill it out, in the manner that players benefit from being asked to keep their own maps.
Wait. You guys use the left sides of your Notebooks?
ОтветитьI got this for my daily “death” journal. It’s cool to see used this way😁🙏
ОтветитьI've been a Leuchtteurm stan for a while. They're expensive, but worth it for the paper quality alone.
ОтветитьSeems like it would be nice for writing but nothing beats a three-ring binder for running adventures (for me). The ability to re-order pages is huge. Although I am a huge Leuchtterm fan. I use their notebooks for everything and have shelves of them. Can't recommend them enough.
ОтветитьI have way too many Leuchtturm. They really are awesome.
ОтветитьI, unfortunately, take all my notes and such in google docs.
That said, I am tempted to get one of these so that I have something to write in while running in person games (I would like to start doing this again soon).
Excellent review. I plan to pick one up.
ОтветитьAdception, an ad within an ad. Good video.
