Man u hit the nail on the head with everything and basically said what we were all subconsciously thinking. I think thats why Cold War out of all the Modern Cods is my favorite one since BO2. The operators are from the campaign, theres certain factions, the anouncers are taken seriously, and u even have the cool mp intros of the characters coming out of tanks and helicopters. The story is pretty damn good too not gonna lie. But even Cold War has the goofyass kills and dumb fucking looking skins that I can't believe people seriously waste there money to run around and look like the witch king from Lord of the Rings... At the very least Treyarch/Infinity/Sledgehammer can have an option to just have default outfits to appear to players thatd be nice.

Theme is very important. I've been saying this since I returned to the series with MW2019. The themes, art style, maps, factions, music and character models make no sense. Everything is disjointed and nonsensical. It fails to immerse you. It doesn't feel like a war and fails to motivate. It's a convoluted joke.

Talking about the menu: Remember World at War or Black Ops 1? Those menus were just incredible on how they set the mood for the whole game.

one thing that hurts the most is that the music lost its identity too. BO1 and BO2 have the best main menu music for a shooter i have ever heard. side from maybe doom but thats unfair. the music brought everything together. it set the tone of the experience and it did it well. i remember even Cold War had some great tracks, i just dont get how activision can just...not try at all. i do understand why they do these things, i just dont get why they whore themselves out, selling their identity, their soul for a buck. where is the artistic integrity? where is the artistry anywhere in cod?
i really dislike when people are apathetic towards these kinds of things. if youre going to sink hours and hours into cod, or anything, why would you not want to engage with it at a higher level? why dont you always want to engage with the things you enjoy doing at a higher level? its sad, apathy destroys everything. need not to look any further than the box art to see there is just nothing there.

Another example forza. Used to be my favorite game as a kid. As they made more and more I lost interest thinking their lack of improvement was the problem. But the reality is the game was never that good and always half assed. It was just brand new at the time

When a game is so much about multiplayer, going in the bright pink way will just turn some people off. the only way I will play the new COD's is if the games were much more cheap because I just want to finish the campaigns and uninstall.

I feel like mw2019 did operators so good “mostly” I remember being so hyped to buy a mil sim skin that had some sick looking gas mask with a rangers uniform and being so hyped by it

In retrospect the Hollywood scope of the MW trilogy has become one of my favorite things about it. Because if you think about it the plot is basically that of a Cold War action thriller from the 80s that directors never had the budget to make. But with a video game you can kinda do whatever you want, so they could create the giant scale of an epic Cold War WW3. Switching between 141 and regular troops gave you both perspectives, the giant war that’s raging on and then the covert ops thrill that will sway the stakes in favor of whoever wins. It was the perfect blend.

Now they’ve lost their identity, it’s just a vessel for corporate advertising and micro transactions.

my favorite is the distant shooting sounds from cod4, you're alone in the server (now unfortunately always) but you still hear these beautifully mixed distant gun shots

i willl never forget my friend playing warzone at my place and some guy was chasing him and eventually killed him, he was so annoying, when he did the finisher my friend said "ofc ofc nicki minaj killed me why am i not fucking surprised with this game" lmao

COD2019 started off great keeping the theme but letting us use characters. But these characters were actually looked and made sense to which side you spawn as.. Now I dont even know who I am fighting for and its a fucking mess and just ugly seeing pink glowing characters.. The guns really dont bother me much though since I cant see them anyways. I always prefer normal gun metal though
