Great interview. Kevin's work is top notch. I was a documentary wedding photographer, although not as prolific as Kevin, until I gave up last year when I hit 70 years old. Liked Kevin's comment as I thought I was getting to that point of retiring when I was the same age, and even older, as the bride and groom's grandparents! I always liked to think I worked in a similar way - it's always the moments that matter!

Also, glad to hear the documentary "Tish" was mentioned. Great documentary about a stunning documentary photographer that should have been recognised during her own lifetime - and all credit to her daughter for promoting her mother's legacy.

A great chat which I found interesting not least because I have only done a few weddings but in each case I've concentrated on the "reportage" shots rather than the formal group shots, and in each case the client(s) have been very happier with that approach and with the results. It's hard work to take the "formal" shots when the people are generally more uptight and feel under pressure. The best shots (and those that the people prefer) are when they are relaxed and "off-guard" . (As an aside, and confirmation of Kevin's approach and the one I adopted, the only photo of my own wedding that my wife and I have on display was taken by the best man's father with a 110 instamatic from the a third row pew of my wife and i walking down the aisle after we had signed the register. It was the right moment, the pressure was off, everyone was smiling naturally not with a forced expression. ) As with Street photography, "light" is important, "composition" is important but the most important is the "moment".

Another excellent video Glyn. I love Kevin's philosophy and something I learned when I started photography, capturing the moment and its not about the looking its seeing the image and definitely developing your own style.

Fascinating interview with Kevin, especially his comments about using his camera in fully auto resulting in images not necessarily technically perfect but hopefully capturing the emotion / the moment.
