ОтветитьWhat a beautiful song
ОтветитьIn the hot midwest summer, my mom would take us to the movies where it had AC. Usually it was Elvis, except once it was this movie, I hadn't learned about the Alamo yet, and it was very bloody and frightening for a 9 year old. Then that song, and I sat with tears rolling down my face. I never watched it again until now, 60 years later, and when I heard that song, boy, it all came back to me. I was a kid who never saw violence like that before and I was mistaken about seeing guts. To know then that it was true, made it so real, I was so sad...
ОтветитьIn 1961 my father died suddenly at the age of 38 and this song immediately became synonymous with his passing on june 21st 1961, and any time i've ever heard it since it moved me greatly and still does to this day brings tears to my weary eyes..
ОтветитьI have heard this in my mind for the past few years since all this junk started with politicians and our constitution and it speaks of another horrible war coming to this country, a civil war. Not between the north and south, but those forces trying to kill the US and we Americans who want her saved for our posterity. Much death will occur as will the watering of the tree of liberty with the blood of the enemy and patriots.
ОтветитьMy dad has this movie in videocassette....this wonderful song appears at the end of it. Great movie!!!!
ОтветитьI agree with those who say this is one of the most beautifully songs I have ever heard. The sweet nostalgia it expresses always puts a lump in my threat just like the song "Sunrise, Sunset"-- and for the same reason.
ОтветитьMAESTROCAMOTES: 5 MAYO 1862 PUEBLA: NO HUBO UN SOLO HEROE,HABIA ALLI COMO 4MIL MEXICANOS, TODOS FUERON HEROES PORQUE TODOS EXPUSIERON LA VIDA. Y MUCHOS MEXICANOS LA PERDIERON. OTROS SUFRIERON HORRIBLE AL SER HERIDOS. Y ESO FUE SOLO EL PRINCIPIO HAY REGISTRADAS COMO 40 BATALLAS PELADAS SUFRIDAS Y AGUANTADAS POR MILES DE MEXICANOS, ALGUNOS DE APENAS 16 O 17 AÑOS.ELLOS NOS DIERON LA LIBERTAD QUE AHORA TODOS DISFRUTAMOS.
ОтветитьCould someone indicate me the two missing verbs in the 5th line ?? Thanks beforehand ...
A time to be reapin’, a time to be sowin’
The green leaves of summer are callin’ me home
It was good to be young then, in the season of plenty
When the catfish were jumpin’ as high as the sky
A time to be ? , a time to be ?
A time to be courtin’ a girl of your own
Twas so good to be young then, to be close to the earth
And to stand by your wife at the moment of birth
A time to be reapin’, a time to be sowin’
The green leaves of summer are callin’ me home
It was good to be young then, with the sweet smell of apples
And the owl in the pine tree a-winkin’ his eye
A time just for plantin’ a time just for ploughin’
A time just for livin’, a place for to die
Twas so good to be young then, to be close to the earth
Now the green leaves of summer are callin’ me home
Now the green leaves of summer are callin’ me home
"Monsieur LaPadite, to both your family and your cows I say: Bravo."
ОтветитьWho is the choir singing this version of the song?

ОтветитьWhat is it about melody, pared with struggle, triumph, or tragedy... it moves the heart, touches the soul, wells something up inside a man that's indescribable, and yet quietly brings grown men to tears. I was born close to the time this movie was produced, and can not get my head around how music & cinema in this day and age has so deviated from what used to be commonplace. These actors/actresses surely had their own infirmities and personal crusades during their tenures, although what's evolved lately - last generation, in the entertainment industry doesn't hold a candle to what this melody represents. It's all gone, today is merely a shadow of what came before us.
ОтветитьUne mélodie exceptionnelle et un film grandiose, à jamais dans mon cœur ❤
ОтветитьI love the old 1930s, 40s and 50s microphone this early 1960s film uses, it makes the soundtrack and this film sound melancholy and beautiful. Great forgotten masterpiece the Alamo (1960) is and rest well John Wayne.
ОтветитьTEXAS TIME .. As a kid of 5, I declared I'm a Texas Cowboy even being a Hoosier .. At 10, my uncle & his family moved to Beaumont, TX 1 car, 2 U-haul trucks, my dad, grandfather & me .. We were about 20 miles into Texas when in the road was a COWBOY stopping traffic .. I bailed outa the truck & stood there just in awe as a heard of cattle & Cowboys crossed. The Cowboy on a Paint horse looked at me, smiled & said, "Howdee where ya from boy" .. I told him & as the last of the cattle crossed, he spun his horse, waved his 10 gallon & and shouted, "Welcome to Texas". It took me 8 more years & good grades, but I returned to Texas as a "Texas Longhorn Student" .. Only leaving Texas 1 time serving in Vietnam .. I'm a "BORN AGAIN TEXAN" .. God Bless Texas & all Who have fought for Texas
ОтветитьOne of the greatest movies of all time. Totally unappreciated for all the work that went into it.
ОтветитьRest In Peace Paul Webster and Gloria. You are remembered fondly.
ОтветитьWonderful song , it epitomises why we should treasure our time .Someone needs to share this with Putin
ОтветитьI whistled this tune when I discovered The Alamo by a warm summer evening on July 2nd 1969 ! Despite I had not yet seen the movie at that time, I could not help thinking about these brave men fighting for their freedom ! Nearly 53 years later, I can still feel the warmth on the palm of my hand, while touching the twisted pilars of the front porch ...
ОтветитьGreat song so beautiful
ОтветитьGreat!
ОтветитьCette chanson est exceptionnelle et restera continuellement dans tous les coeurs .
ОтветитьWatched this movie as a child in the UK. Years later I moved to the US to family in Huston, Texas. They took me to San Antonio to see the Alamo. It was magical.
ОтветитьSad and beautiful at the same time!
ОтветитьDimitri Tiomkin wrote so much beautiful music, Hi & Mighty, Hi Noon, Wild is the Wind, Rawhide TV theme, Friendly Persuasion, Sundowners, this.
ОтветитьWhat a music !!!! Where is all that gone ?
ОтветитьA Wonderful song that is So touching my heart ...
ОтветитьMI VERSION FAVORITA!
ОтветитьWHITE MEN SHOULD NOT FORCE OTHER PEOPLE TO GET HEALTH INSURANCE
ОтветитьIt is a beautiful movie in general, and the only minor irritant is John Wayne wearing the clothes of 40 years later!
ОтветитьThis melody and the melody of the love theme from THE ROBE are two of the most beautiful ever written.
Ответить" NOT THINKIN, JUST REMEMBERIN " ---------It gets to me every time. ---------------------MJL< 75 y/o
ОтветитьI like how the words are garbled, nice job recording!!!
Ответить“What are you thinking Davy?” “Not thinking…just remembering.”
ОтветитьA perfect song, a song that moves you!!
ОтветитьA time for the Ukrainians to sing these words. Know this. The free world is with you we just need the legal words to say we can.
ОтветитьThis will be played at my funeral
ОтветитьIt was good to be young then!
ОтветитьGreat Tiomkin at his greatest best. What a deep feeling of deep sadness. A classic piece of unforgettable music.
