i wish more longines models had see through case backs

I am wearing my Hydroconquest now. Under a loop the dial, case, and bracelet are flawless. The accuracy is within COSC. This is every bit the equal of the Tudor Blackbay. Mine even has superior water resistence at 1,000 feet vs. 660 for the Tudor.

some years ago I changed from a Longines to a Rolex,without question,the Longines is by far the better value and confortable to wear

I’m a quartz guy. I have just over 12 watches, 8 or so being Seikos. I love Seiko, but I wanted an affordable luxury piece. I found a good deal on a Longines Conquest blue dial quartz. I’ve put it on a nice NATO (cause bracelets don’t fit me well). I’ve had it for a week or so. I love it so far!

The thing is that this legend diver is indeed not a proper diver. Not with this compressor-like case which requires unscrewing the crown in order to adjust the bezel, which basically cancels whatever water resistance the watch has. Don’t call something a diver if you can’t use it for diving, even if the majority of people won’t be actually scuba diving with it. Perhaps they should have called it Longines legend diver-like.

Dec 2021 I purchased a brand new Longines automatic watch.
March 2023, part of the time/date adjustment knob simply fell off. This happened without mishandling the wrist watch in any way. I did not encounter this problem with other automatic watches.
I sent the watch for repair, under the 2 year warranty. They denied to repair it under warranty and notified me of repair cost: 20% of the original watch purchase price.
I refused to pay anything additional to repair a lousy watch, poorly manufactured.
Please be aware of my awful experience with this "well established brand"....and good luck with your choice.

Rolex are way overpriced, omega, zenith and even Tudor are expensive and some of the longines chronographs and classic designs are works of art. The longines heritage military is fabulous but for me day to day i love longines quartz movement watches. One in the family was bought the twin towers year at christmas. What a great timekeeper it is. The clasp quality and action and the case and glass is like new and has been worn night and day. The conquest VHP is great too especially being quartz and accurate to under 5 seconds a year for under £1000. A bargain but i just want a watch for life thats a daily tool. The VC oversras is my favourite brand and model but when the price is far more than i earn gross a year its a lot but next to Rolex it would be a no brainer for the money as i love the quality design and AP or patek phillippe can compare for the prestige. They are not in the trinity for nothing. Panerai, Ulysse Nardin, JLC, Gerard Perreagaux and some others are also top class. It really is modern artistic bespoke design at the very top and its a joy to see. Its worth visiting La Chaux de Fonds fb or the musee de horologee.

I agree on the title of the vid . Longines now is doing great things , making some watches which i feel like , ok i expected to be worth more (or later on for sure). The name by itself alone , sounds very luxurious. But when i go through their collection, some great looking watches there , and i really feel they are going up quite steep .

That Legend Diver is definitely one of my grail watches, alongside the Speedmaster Moonwatch and the Breitling Navitimer. Hopefully someday!

I watched this because I just got a Longines Conquest. Handed down by my brother. It is perfect for me.

I love my Longines watch and I plan on buying many more in the future.

Even if I was offered a watch free of charge any of the other leading brands I would probably choose a Longines.

Longines has style, affordability and good design. They are just very good all round.

I'm planning to buy Longines Conquest quartz. Confused between Tissot Gentleman and Conquest (quartz) as both fits in the same budget.
Conquest automatic is a bit out of my budget range.
Would the Conquest (quartz) be great value proposition than a Tissot? I know this is not the right question but I do like how Conquest is built and appreciate to own a Longines but the only thing is that Tissot's Gentleman is a good Mechanical machine as well. Would appreciate if someone can throw some light on the longevity and quality of CONQUEST QUARTZ..! ✌️

Well not that it matters or anything, but just FYI as a leatherworker I can tell you that suede is easily the cheapest leather you can buy. $50 will typically get you about a square metre which is enough for dozens of straps. In the world of leather suede is basically one grade up from the composite leather where you get a $10 "genuine leather" belt from a department store and it starts falling apart a couple of weeks later.

Perception on the tiering of "luxury" is one thing, another is success as as business. The whole narrative that Longines has had a "fall from grace" and it isn't what it used to be ignores Swatch's market strategy and how well that's worked out for Longines.

They have dialed in their market position, much like its siblings Omega and Tissot, to maximise market share. Each brand focuses on a specific price segment and thereby gives Swatch maximum market coverage without diluting a specific brand (think Tag and Seiko).

Whilst Omega has more of a market share overall, it hasn't done as well in its market segment as Longines, as Rolex eclipses it in both sales and revenue. Longines utterly dominates its segment.

Longines is the no 4 swiss watch brand in terms of market share by value (after Rolex, Omega and Cartier). Think about that, they beats out the holy trinity of Patek, AP, VC (they actually have 4x the market share and have twice or higher market share compared to their closest "mid range" competitors - Tag, Breitling and (arguably) IWC.

By contrast, the closest analogue in their "glory days" - JLC - doesn't even make the top 10.

Tbh the only watch brands i think that are really worth it on both price point and history behind it plus design are Casio, Seiko, Tiesot, Longines and Omega. Everything else is way overpriced imo. Sure Rolex has its advantages and brands like Cartier got their Style statement but dude as a normal person those are not affordable at all. Even Omega is too expansive for my means but still got a few good deals. But Longines is by far my favourite for the value you get out of money only brand Id put next to it would be Tissot maybe. Just bought a Longines Master Moonphase. It’s a thing of beauty that I can’t stop staring at. Luxury? Yes. Affordable? At around £3,000, it’s not an impulse buy - been lusting after this for a while. Huge bang for you £? Definitely. Regrets? None.

Its the good enough mentality. But for people like me that spend time on every single brush stroke. Staring at my painting for years to finish it. Hoping i didnt waste my time in vain. The patek phillipe philosophy and others like them. Its just that extra bit. Id love a longines but i cant even afford a fake one either
