I just want to start learning this. I am in Ghana and it's almost impossible to get anyone that repair these mechanical watches around here also no idea how to get the parts needed. Is it possible for you to assist or point me to the direction where I can order the basic tools a beginner needs to start with?
ОтветитьThere is caurse of studying abouth watch
ОтветитьThanks for your valuable advice. I have been looking for some tools. Have been asking advice. And the advice tends to be get the best money can buy.
But honestly, I don't believe in that. There must be some reasoning behind other than just belief that the most expencive is the only that is worth of buying.
Now, you gave nice reasonign where to save some money and where not.
Thanks.
Thanks for this really helpful video ✌🏻

ОтветитьGreat video
ОтветитьI was looking for a good watch repair video and this is a good starting point. I work on my own computers so I do have most of these hand tools including a ultrasonic cleaner. All I want to do is learn how to fix my own watches. I still have the chronograph watch that I wore in High School ( 50years ago) that I want to revive. I also bought a 200 piece watch repair kit, so I am ready to start. Needless to say I subscribed.
Ответитьwould be fun to have links where to buy them
ОтветитьWhere this country and this place please tell me sir
ОтветитьThe first thing I need is steady hands. Gotta work on that. Good video tho... Thank you.. ( You're going to slip a lot..". Hmmm....I see blood in my future.)

Why did you put an apostrophe in tools?
ОтветитьContinue the great work. I first saw this type of work on sixty- minutes..no pudnt (p-sp) intended. I'll send it to my friends back in Cabo Verde, West Africa and around the world. God alone knows where this social media has taken me. ( Laughter) thank you.

Ответитьwhat grit stone for screwdrivers? also, I heard that plastic instead of metal calipers is better so it doesn't scratch anything. thanks
ОтветитьNice job! Thank you
ОтветитьGreat vid, thanks so much. Subbed and liked.
ОтветитьDo you use any type of microscope to work on watches.
ОтветитьI need a hobby that isn't me wasting time Infront of a screen maybe I can look into tinkering with watches, I've always been slightly envious of people who know there way around mechanical things and can fix them.
ОтветитьWhy do you feel that it's necessary to purchase the most expensive inanimate metal wedge that money can buy?
ОтветитьHello. Where would I download a parts catalog? Thank you
ОтветитьLike, comment, subscribed. Algorithm complete. Good info, Thanks!
ОтветитьHaving recently started repairing watches I can 100% agree with the idea that the first high quality tool you need is a case knife/opener. Cheap case knives are not only miserable but often don't work and mostly end up damaging things. You can get by with cheap everything else at first. I've worked on so many different mechanical systems, both professionally and personally and always follow the same approach, buy the cheapest tools you can at first, but when you replace them buy the best. Its amazing how well cheap tools work and how long they last most of the time. Tweezers were the second item I upgraded. Especially with the ultra fine tweezers there is just a huge difference in steel quality and the shape and angle of the tips.
Either way, thanks for the level-headed approach and encouragement. I still am sort of in a place of being intimidated by watches and the tools that go with them. Most other videos like this lay out hundreds of dollars in tools and say thats what you need to get started. So its nice to hear a contrary opinion on that front and know I'm not needlessly beating my head against the wall here.
First visit to this channel. I will subscribe. I’ve been buying watches for ten years with intent on learning some basic repairs. I will be using your guidance and information. Thank you Sir
Ответитьso do these same tools apply for working on antique pocket watches as well

ОтветитьThank you sir
ОтветитьVery informative and helpful video. Thanks!
ОтветитьWhere you live
ОтветитьHi just new to this pleased to find your channel do you have a link for the download
ОтветитьJumped the gun and started working on a watch with small magnetized screwdrivers bits (was not aware they were magnetized at the time) will a simple cheap demagnetizer on the screws do the trick?
ОтветитьI am first visit to your channel, and the books really help, and right now, you can search and download it for free. Just in case anyone that need a copy and can't find it online, just let me know, i will share it to you.
And thank you, please share more video. 😊
I only use brass and bronze tweezers. Nothing else. Seem to do fine. I have a rotating base and screwdrivers that we're $60 and I dress them.
I have also bought two individual Bergeon. Also the $10 demag works just fine.
Exactly the video I was looking for
