Super Mario RPG Remake - How It Compares To The Original Game?

OG was good because they put another SNES CPU in it for math purposes. Remakes will suck by definition, why remake if it's good?

Only thing that bugs me about this is the UI. It's incredibly dull and basic. The same super minimal clean look every Nintendo game goes for today with the overused and unchanged New Rodin typeface. They could have made something waaay more fitting of a Mario RPG but they continue to use the same style every Mario Switch title (and tons of other Japanese games) default to.

It's a small thing for most, but it's just been something that's bugged me for a lot of games today.

Literally the first game I've ever pre-ordered. I can't wait to go through the game again and see it remastered!

What I wanted the FF7 remake to be. Just a completely polished up version of the original with modern graphics and techniques.

I remember in the original, I used to replay the first area to reach level 10 before fighting the hammer bros, and get the 100 super jump challenge out of the way. That way once I hit Monstro Town, I just get the Attack Scarf and Super Suit. I’ve done this with every version. Planning to do the same in the remake xD

I think they’ll keep it at 100, but maybe you’ll have 3 lives to continue the number you flopped on. And it’s only attemptable against certain npc

What I'm interested in finding out is how much expenditure in R&D is required for such remake on the Switch compared to developing a brand new Mario RPG game for the Switch with similar graphics seen here. Also interesting would be to find out whether longtime fans would have preferred this over a brand new Mario RPG with new story but using the same graphic engine as this game.

Are they making the game harder in any way?

perfect guard is still a thing, also regarding the triple attacks yes each group comp will have a unique one. also now you can swap characters mid battle, which is great since you need mallow to fill out the bestiary. also items are now stackable (though they will apparently have caps)

Imagine the secret boss turns into a Sephiroth fight 😂

they shouldve used the exact process to make the first game but make a sequel. It has a unique feel you just cant remaster.

I'm a literal 3D artist and even I have to ask myself WHY would you remake perfection? That original pixel art implementation with those 2.5D isometric sprites was just SO mind-blowing and to this day stands alone as one of the most unique, innovative and iconic looks of all time! This new overhaul does literally nothing for me... other than make me want to go back and play the original.

This IS my most anticipated game of this year. I loved RPG on snes. One of my favorite mario games, glad they’re bringing it to the kiddos (and me!)

I'll drop this here because hijacking the stream for a silly argument is pointless.
When I typed out the content loop I wasn't complaining about it, I was responding to a question about what the streamer's december plans were. Knowing past pattern of gaming it's likely going to be super mario, pokemon or FF7 unless a big game is released. An answer to someone's question.

Being called a loser in response to pointing out the loop prompted the "lol". Because how do you lose at something by pointing out that something is true. The response even days later makes it seem like the streamer is insecure about the content loop, "I should be more varied" or he has been so rattled by chat genuinely complaining about him that he thinks every observation is a complaint.

As for real trolling, it happens but it has more to do with the game being played than the person playing it. Unless you're in 5th grade Pokemon is a strange hobby, I've had similar issues with MMOs. It rarely has anything to do with the streamer, they're usually just giving in to popular demand. If they had a choice they would probably not play games at all or at the very least play something good.

But Pokemon has good soundtrack and it's comedy. The streamer taking it seriously is what makes it entertaining, acting as a straight man to the absurdity of grinding a toddler game for hundreds of hours. No complaints or passive aggressiveness here. Your streams are top tier, choice of games not so much. Try Lost Odyssey it's FF10 hard mode.
