I always thought Alvin was a massively underrated guitarist and won't soon forget the moments of pleasure I had watching them perform at the Filmore East, back then...

Too many people were busy worshipping Hendrix and missed out on this master, He stole the show at Woodstock and that got my attention.

This Video just Popped up in my You Tube To Watch List. I am an ardent fan of TYA since 1968 or so. This was a rehearsal just before appearing in US cities and of Course at WOODSTOCK. For the performance at Woodstock alone, TYA should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Nobody "cooked" that Gibson like Alvin Lee. R.I.P. Alvin. Read Ric Lee's Book : From Headstock to Woodstock. Ric describes that Alvin was "pecular" , Never want to play anything resembling Pop! For that reason, TYA didn't get inducted . Low recognition. In this video, Alvin Plays a Strat, but typically he played a Gibson. I saw them Live at The Fillmore East circa 1970. Listen to that LP : Live at The Fillmore East . Stream it. Without a doubt , Alvin should be in the top 5 of The Greatest Rock Guitarists of All Time. And what can you say about Leo Lyons..a great Bass Player.

I saw TYA at Roosevelt stadium in New Jersey, Leo Lyons broke a bass string during his solo! Nobody breaks bass strings, That cat was intense!!!

I saw Alvin Lee in 1994 in New England he was real good, he opened up for blackfoot, it was called the medicine man tour, saw him back stage, his style of playing is so different than other blues guitar players, he was the best blues guitarist besides Johnny winter.
