Wow that thing is huge! It's the first time I've seen a flip clock with a decimal too. In fact, even a lot of LED digital clocks back then didn't have colons or decimals. Cool sleep timer too; just an interesting clock all around... and the best part is that it works! That's not easy to find these days. How well does it keep time? If it keeps perfect time, you can set it up somewhere and use it... it's too cool not to hehe. I bet the FM issues could all be resolved by adjusting the tuning capacitor.
Ответитьwould I like to see this get fixed? hell yes I would. Flipclocks hold a dear place in my heart, having an older panasonic one not too similar to your smaller one there on my bed side table when I slept up in Windham, NY at my Grandma and Grandpa's summer/winter house up there. it was apparently the old clock radio that was originally my aunt's in her bedroom at my grandma's house here in NJ in Gillette before she moved out and went to CA in the early 90s. my dad, being the way he is, had matching late 80s Panasonics with VFD displays at home and there on his side table instead. in fact, he had 3, and when one finally bit the dust, he swapped it for the other one which used to be in my bedroom when I was a kid. repetition indeed, but that alarm was louder than anything else he was ever able to find, and he needed it, being a heavy sleeper.
that panasonic flipclock then traveled with him to a rental when he moved up there to work for a software company, and it stayed there in that house when he moved out, as at that time there was a falling out between my aunt and the rest of the family. I recently talked to her on the phone again back in February , first time talking to her since 2008.
on a side note, it seems like the alarm for that isn't doing the usual one-second on-off 60Hz buzz I see on a number of clock radios from that time period; I wonder if that's by design or if it's just so used that whatever handled that has failed and needs replacing.
lovely things! must be from the 70's or earily 80's as woodgrain was still in use until i think 86' 88' when it was a 70's thing, it needs a comback woodgrain on everything
ОтветитьITS HUGE!! i love it clearly must of been made in texas cus u know everythings bigger in texas
ОтветитьWhat is "The Fisher" I see in the background?
Ответитьnot bad for a trash find...Cool looking clock!
Ответитьfm is deaf, needs a realignment... see simonspears videos.
Ответитьyeah cool clock please make a video if you open it !
ОтветитьNever seen this kind of clock except in TV shows.
ОтветитьNice find, all it needs now is a cleaning.
ОтветитьI literally thought this was uxwbill's video until I finally went to it. The subject matter and description are just like something he would do! :)
ОтветитьHaha TYT at the end of the video :)
ОтветитьI can't seem to find the dimensions for this unit anywhere, I'd love to have one just like it but they seem hard to come by on eBay
ОтветитьFrom the looks of it, I'd say this clock radio is more likely to be from the early 80's rather than 70's. Probably around 1981-82. It probably has a bad electrolytic capacitor in the FM tuning circuit.
ОтветитьI can't get over the fact that they called this large flip clock called the "BIGTIME"
Ответитьflipy clocky! I like them :)
ОтветитьAhhh the Panasonic flip for the comparison. Damn good clock radio. My brother still uses his every day to get himself up for work. They just don't make them like that anymore
ОтветитьCan't say I've seen a sleep button quite like that before. I'm curious to know if this has its own timing oscillator for the clock, or if it used the 60hz frequency off the AC mains for timing. I've an older LED clock and was trying to figure out why it wasn't keeping proper time. Had the capacitors gone bad, or did the power company stop regulating the 60hz standard? Or is it something else?
ОтветитьYou'll probably find that the internals of the clock are made by Copal. I have a "Copal Saehan" clock radio which is similar but has the smaller digits and has real wood construction.
ОтветитьSeems decidedly 1970s based on the tuning dial, especially its illumination.
ОтветитьNeat clock! I love flip clocks.
I have a sony flip clock "digital timer" for use with one of their early VCRs. It's amazingly accurate.
Nice oldie there, had something like that for years until the flip part went kaput.
Ответитьthat thing is a beast
ОтветитьLove your videos, its never predictable to figure out what we going to see next. From cameras to alarm clocks, and vintage PC hardware. :)
Ответитьtalk about not made like they used too. This thing is gorgeous. nice find.
ОтветитьReminds me of an Old Panasonic Clock My Parents had when i was growing up. Thanks For Sharing.
ОтветитьWhy do you like westlife so much?
ОтветитьIs that Cenk Uygur from TYT on the radio at the end of the video?
ОтветитьAwesome
ОтветитьLol that ending: "what if we stayed on the air too long? hahaha!!!"
ОтветитьLucky lucky bugger I'd love that!
ОтветитьI guess you going to have to get inside to align the radio.
ОтветитьI love how 99% of all flip clocks makes exactly the same noises for alarm setting and the digits flipping.
Ответитьi would like to have a flip clock but in germany you don't find them. But I don't find any on eBay or Amazon either... :(
Ответитьhad one for those many years ago, very similar but different model. i remember that alarm sound and i had same issue with the alarm time, it didn't always go off exactly when you set it, it could go off a few minutes early or late. of course with that dial you couldn't set it exact anyway, it was more of an estimate
Ответитьi have somthing like this buts by ge
ОтветитьI have a ge one that's broken, the numbers won't flip and I'm not sure how to fix it
ОтветитьLiterally found the exact same clock at my town’s dump. Radio works a considerable amount better though. Doesn’t flip anymore as far as I can tell. Yours is also missing the radio on-off switch.
ОтветитьVwestlife, you find some of the coolest radios man! I hope you get that one working.
ОтветитьDid you even notice that it was Selena Gomez announcing 107.1?
ОтветитьContact cleaner
Ответитьsuch a cool clock.
ОтветитьNice 👍 clock radio
ОтветитьNice 👍 clock radio
ОтветитьI have a flip clock radio that works good, but i only have one problem. The flip clock does not flip unless i turn the knob. Do you know how to fix that problem?
