Hi Jason. My current line-up includes: 20mm 1.8 G, Zeiss 55, and the new 70-200 f4. Would you add the 35mm f/1.4 or the Tamron 28-75 G2 for travel purposes?

Just about to go on some travels and I have packed a 24mm f/2.8, a 35mm f/2, a 50mm f/1.4 and the 100mm f/2.8 macro. This is the first time I have taken all primes and no zoom, but I feel like I have covered all bases. I hope I don't regret leaving my 24-105 at home. I know my 35mm will be on the camera the most, as I will be on a river most of the time.

Don't understand why you didn't take the same shot with different lenses.

Thanks for the video.

I own and use a 24mm f/2 lens and a 35mm f/1.4 lens for my 35mm film SLR.
I also own and use a 16mm f/1.4 and a 23mm f/1.4 lens for my APS-C digital mirrorless.

I have used the 24mm and the 35mm for landscape, travel, and street.
For a one-lens/one-body situation, I have used both, but I prefer the 35 because the 24 is too wide for my taste as a stand-alone lens.
For landscape, travel, and street, I prefer to pair the 35mm with an 85mm or a 90mm.
For landscape, travel, and street, I prefer to pair the 24mm with a 45mm or a 50mm normal lens.
For landscapes, I have used both, but I would rather use a 28mm.
For travel, I would prefer to pair the 24 with a 45mm or a 50mm normal lens.
For travel, my personal preference is a 35mm flanked by 21mm and 90mm lenses.
For street, my personal preference is a 35mm f/2 or 35mm f/1.4 lens.

The one zoom that I own that has the 24 and 35mm focal lengths is the 20-35mm f/2.8.
The one APS-C zoom that I own that has the 16 and 23mm focal lengths is the 16-55mm f/2.8.
I use both zooms a back-up to my prime lenses.

What would you recommend for music videos? It’s my first new lens. I love how in depth the 25 is but the 24 gets everything. I’m not sure which way to go. You pick for me, it’s my money don’t worry lol

I really enjoy using the Tamron 35mm f2.8 on my A7ii,It beat my Zeiss hands down for getting in really close to still subjects.Focus hunting is not a problem that's all down to operator error.
I enjoyed your video and its nice to accept your open view on lenses tested.

I prefer the 35mm primes. For me they are the most versatile. Need a 24? make a step back. need a 50? make a step to the front...

If you have both full-frame and APS-C bodies, just get a 24mm f/1.4. Mounted on the APS-C body, it will shoot like a 35mm f/2.1 lens.

I picked the Samyang AF 24mm f1.8 FE, which is the equal or better than the Sony GM (it's just as sharp but it has less CA, better flare resistance, it's about half the weight (230g) and it's 3 times cheaper than the Sony!)...And for travel, you can't get a better 35mm lens than the Samyang AF 35mm f2.8 FE (officially the lightest AF lens in the world at only 84g (without caps)...A double aspherical element wonder. I fitted a Dixons lens hood on it that weighs 16g, making it exactly 100g with the hood fitted but without the caps.

Thanks for the comparisons Jason! I was choosing between the Sigma 16mm (24mm eq.) & Viltrox 23mm (~35mm eq.) for APS-C but I'll probably go for the Sigma after watching this. Was having a hard time making portrait shots work really good with the 16mm but after seeing your shots here, I'm convinced it's more of a user error from my side. Plus, I'll be cropping my shots most of the time for Instagram and my 24mm APS-C shots from my zoom lens really look zoomed in after cropping

I’d say you should consider if you would ever take your photography into making a business before investing. Does the advantage of the 24 over 35 actually helps in that? But if you are going strictly hobby than it probably matter much less

After years of practicing photography I have found that 24 and 35mm are probably my most go to focal lengths, I have noticed that my shoots with clients tend to be more interactive since I have to get closer to my subjects for tighter shots. Definitely going to buy a 24mm GM Soon! That lens is so bad ass!

I hate when people just ignore the 400 $ or 600 $ difference as negligible. If money was no issue no one would watch any review video and just buy everything they want. People want to use their money wisely. So properly conclude with pros and cons of any product. Stop treating 600 $ as some peanuts money.
