The Heavy Crossbow gave me the easiest Sanctuary Guardian fight I've ever had. I will never accept any disrespect towards it.

I don't know the frame data for sure, but I think crossbows work better one handed. You shoot faster (no windup aim animation like with two handed) and the reload seems to be slightly faster too?

I always notice you use the pronoun they for Gwendolin. Are they a they?

The only problem I have with crossbows in DS1 is not being able to aim down the sights. This makes them pretty useless for pulling enemies, which is one of the main things I use them for in the game. I do tend to use them off handed on Strength builds.

I'd absolutely welcome you doing something with Monster Hunter. Or heck, other interesting games, not always just Soulslikes and/or third person action games. Your XCOM stuff is still some of my favorite content of yours, as it's something different and really interesting.

If you think about it, a crossbow is really a firebomb of the more... non-exploding variety. Perchance.

If you're gonna use lightning bolts, you need to ascend your crossbow to lightning.

As a firefighter, I can absolutely confirm that we dodge and fist fight fires. Sometimes we even use crossbows.

The heavy crossbow literally carried my noob ass in my first playthrough.
So much so that when I found my first Slab, I fed it to it. (to be fair my main melee weapon was the BKGS so I didn't need it).

fun fact the damage the crossbow deals does not come from the crossbow alone the damage is the crossbow damage plus the damage of whatever bolt you are firing, same with bows

the felonies the one boss was referring to is murder, in real life murder is in fact a felony

I know this video is old ish, and you might already have found out but: split damage in souls games in generally not worth investing into unless you're trying to exploit a significant weakness. Each damage type individually gets ran thru the enemy's defense against each type and reduced accordingly. So all in on one type of damage is optimal.

I have to strongly disagree, crossbows certainly do not go to the bottom of my bottomless box. They go down Frampt's mouthole.

Pro tip #1 you can aim with crossbows just like bows. Pro tip #2 you can buy poison bolts and fire bolts at the female merchant. (I am wrong PLS ignore this comment)

Crossbows are nearly useless in normal play since you can't even aim them. I'm sure you can beat most bosses, though, even though it's going to be slow.

You get a like just for using Peril in your background soundtrack

The only game where the Avelynn is good because the increased ammo consumption is not an issue

Also its semi traditional to old yeller sif with something ranged if he gets limpy and the heavy crossbow and composite bow can carry you until scaling kicks in so usually have one or the other for that fight unless magic.

Often go fire or chaos on the composite. Know shortbows quicker but always invaded with a chaos composite.
Left the Heavy crossbow +15 for pve and was undecided whether It was beneficial or negligible to go lightning for pvp as a surprise to put them down when they chug or if was out of pyromancy options due to squads or fightclubbin on occasion.
Didnt like avelyn for pvp since you get locked in too long an animation,that invites backstabs if you miss.
Loved my anor lando invader. Used a lightning barbed straight sword as my main,and occasionally would switch to a lightning washingpole after honestly simply got bored of my level 50ish characters lack of weapon diversity.
Left hand surprise lightning notched whip was fun too
Raised it to level 66 since was fighting level 125+ mostly and way too many modders with 99 cent hax builds on xboxlive anyway. So being able to mix it up was good.
Power within and +15 heavy crossbow is still useful against big O & S with team inflated hp on higher ngs and draws good aggro 👍
