Ah I wish I had seen this video before I visited Tokyo! I loved the Tsukije market but I would have loved to check out that little tea/nori shop and the cafe down that side alley!

Hey Paolo, (or anyone reading this) can you confirm if Tsukiji Fish Market is still running and open for visitors? I'm planning on visiting Japan for the first time in mid-August and Tsukiji Fish Market is absolutely at the top of my list for places to go to, but I've seen some conflicting reports whether or not Tsukiji Fish Market is still open for visitors? Can anyone confirm?

Wow, where to start. The pizza (in Tsukiji!), the cod burger, the sweet potato parfait and the tuna cheeks would be my picks. Going back later this year and these will on the short list. Also happy to see Maiko’s map!

Am currently visiting Japan, and saw this video a few months ago when planning my trip. Family and I stumbled down the alleyway shown at the beginning looking for some place to cool off from the heat. And lo and behold, we found the Pepper’s Cafe. And holy cow, their Peppercorns are INCREDIBLE. That place is no joke and EASILY one of the best and most special places we’ve stumbled across in Japan so far. Tetsu and Yoko and so sweet and took care of us so well, it was wonderful to meet them. If you are in Tsukiji, this shop is a must try. Their pizza and cola is out of this world, and the peppercorns are too. Thank you Paolo for the amazing recommendation, it was wonderful to come across such a special place from your wonderful country. ;)

Just came back from japan and went to Juju. That place is a ripoff. That was not A5 wagyu. Lucky I went to a authentic place and it was so delicious. These steak on a stick were not even close. Chewy and the flavor was mid at best definitely not worth the cost. We had the seafood oyster though. That was good and fairly priced. Do not pay for the wagyu

Any recommendations for vegetarian restaurants in Japan?

Man..the onigiri more then likely matched the ones made with tuna in the mid 70's in Palau. I remembered my grandmother giving it to me when I was only 6 years old..so good. Going to Japan in Sept.23 with the family. I am making plans to go there.

went to that tea shop and left with 4 bags. worth it. they had a yuzu matcha that was amazing

These are the kind of places that I hope to see if I get to go there, hopefully this year. Better than the busier shopping areas. That pizza with chorizo and fish burger looks delicious. PS-- how did you learn Japanese so well? I've only begun in Sept and will need many, many years to master it!
